Additional Information
The first evening we travel overnight 150 km to the Cod Hole. During this time passengers organize their dive gear or hire gear. We also have a brief period of introduction followed by paperwork and a briefing on the schedule for the next day. Dinner is served at approx 7:30pm with the rest of the evening for relaxation.
Snorkellers are welcome on both trips, we offer $100 refund.
Minke Whale Season during June and July
Certain Medial conditions or medication can preclude some people from diving, please contact Taka Dive if more information is required.
We recommend the individual purchase of travel insurance.
In the case of extreme weather conditions or unforseen circumstances, Taka dive reserves the right to adjust or cancel the standard itinery.

Dive 1
Familiarization with the Cod Hole. Check out dive for those who have done less than 50 dives or have not dived in the past year. Likely Sightings include Giant Potato Cod, Moray Eel, Reef Sharks & Maori Wrasse.
Dive 2
Cod Feed at the Cod Hole- Close encounters with the Famous Potato Cod.
Lunch
Dive 3
Pixie’s Pinacle/Reef/Wall or Challenger Bay. Likely Sightings include Lion Fish, Nudibranchs, Garden Eels & Barracuda.
Afternoon rest & snack.
Dive 4
6:30pm Night Dive at Challenger Bay
Likely Sightings include Cuttle Fish, Sea Turtles, Reef Sharks & Manta Rays.
8:00pm Evening Meal

10:00am Steve’s Bommie. Likely Sightings include Red flame File Shell, Stone Fish, Wobbegong Sharks, Turtles & Thousands of schooling Anthias.

12:00/1:00pm Temple Of Doom. Sightings include Flatworms & Clownfish.
Lunch followed by Afternoon Rest.
Dive 8
6:30pm Beer Gardens. Sightings include Sleepy Turtles & Parrot Fish.
8:00pm Evening Meal

6:30am Hogs Breath. Sightings include Blue Spot Lagoon Ray & Clown Fish.
7:30am Breakfast

8:30am Split Bommie. Sightings include Octopus & various Butterfly Fish.
As we sail back to Cairns, passengers have plenty of time to rest and relax in between snacks and lunch.
Taka then arrives back to Trinity Wharf in Cairns at 3:00pm.
Complimentary transfers to local accommodation between 3:00pm and 4:00pm

- All linen, including two towels per person. Transfers to/from the vessel from Cairns city accommodation. Tanks, Weights and safety Kits, two night dives with torches, free dive guide subject to instructor availability, superb meals- freshly prepared onboard from dinner on the evening of departure to lunch on the last day, snacks after every dive, complimentry tea, coffee.

- Taka dive also offers gear hire and a selection of specialty courses available onboard for an additional charge. TAKA DIVE SHOP Our dive shop is located right in the heart of Cairns, with a large selection of basic dive gear, Taka Dive merchandise and any last minute diving accesssories.
- What to bring:
- Dive Certification Card and Log Book, Hat, Sunscreen & Sunglasses, a warm jumper, a sense of humour (smiles), motion sickness tablets if you are prone to seasickness, extra money or credit Card for EMC, soft drink, chocolates,etc. Please notify us of any special dietary requirements you may have. An EMC (Environomental management charge) applies for all persons entering the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage area. This charge is to be collected on board.

Taka operates to remote regions of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. We dive with the giant Potato Cod at the Cod Hole, feed the sharks in the crystal clear waters of Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea, and visit some truly amazing sites up and down the Ribbons Reef.

The Cod hole, which is located in a protected area at the Northern end of the Ribbon Reef No 10, is an action packed dive site that provides some of the best "Big Fish" experiences available in the world. these gentle giants are extremely comfortable around divers, making this a dive that will always be remembered.
Northern Great Barrier Reef, Coral and Clam Gardens, a multitude of fish - just amazing! The Great Barrier Reef is a 2500km stretch of living Coral, one of the natural wonders of the world. Our dive sites are in the Northern section, mainly on the ribbon Reefs which extend southward from Lizard Island. Isolated Coral heads (bommies) and huge Coral Gardens are all part of our expedition itineries. Swim with Minke Whale programs are available during June and July each year.
