Tour Description
The Maori Treasures Tour is a full day tour for the discerning cultural visitor. Guests experience unique aspects of New Zealand culture and discover a treasured Maori art tradition that spans three centuries and five generations of well known Maori artists. The tour highlight is an exclusive visit to the Maori Treasures studios at the Waiwhetu Marae. Guests are greeted with a traditional Maori welcome ceremony on arrival and then guided through a series of “studios” where different Maori arts, crafts and music are demonstrated. Visitors will enjoy a leisurely, hosted stroll along Wellington’s beautiful waterfront and hear legends of sea monsters, Maori warriors and fearsome storms. Dine at one of Wellington’s famous café society venues before taking a tour of Te Papa Tongarewa, the Museum of New Zealand.
