Located just 90 minutes from the centre of Melbourne is Cathedral Range, a spectacular 7 km ridge of sharply upturned sedimentary rock. The range was declared a State Park in 1979 due to its outstanding landscape features and diverse woodland types.
A variety of walking tracks and climbs offer the opportunity to reach the peaks to be rewarded with views of the forests and farmland in the valley below. But this is only the beginning of the adventure, we then abseil the 70mtr decent to our return trail. On the walk back we need to be observant as the local Lyrebirds are only too pleased to entertain.
Once back at the vehicle we continue the journey through National parks and the picturesque Acheron valley to the banks of Victoria’s premier summer river.
The Goulburn River provides Victoria’s most consistent summer rafting. Gentle grade 2 rapids and a run through the exciting “ Canoe Slalom Rapid” provide the perfect introduction to this exhilarating sport. Your guide will arrange activities to improve your skills and speed up your heart rate. Surfing waves, helicopters and raft challenges are all part of the days paddling.
We need to on the look out as the shy platypus is often seen during these trips.
