Tour Description

Day 1 (L&D)
Your journey of discovery begins with a scenic drive north via Port Douglas to Cooya Beach, where we join Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours. The Walker brothers Linc & Brandon will share their extensive knowledge of the special area and how they care for the country. Learn how to throw a spear, hunt whilst stalking and observing wildlife and country, and how to track coastal resources. Enjoy fresh homemade damper, and tea/coffee. We continue along the Daintree Coast where we cross over the mighty Daintree River by cable ferry. This great serpent of water is a special Aboriginal meeting and trading place. Our journey takes us through Cape Tribulation where we will lunch at Coconut Beach Resort. Continuing into the World Heritage Daintree National Park, we cross rivers and mountain ranges as we travel the famous 4wd-only Bloomfield Track. At Wujal Wujal we join the Walker Family on the Bloomfield Falls tour, who share some of their knowledge about this special and sacred place. At the end of the track, there is time for a cold beer at famous Aussie bush pub, The Lions Den Hotel. View the mysterious Black Mountains steeped in Aboriginal legend before arriving in Cooktown for your overnight stay. Dinner included this evening.

Day 2 (B)
Early breakfast before joining Aboriginal Nugal-warra Elder Willie Gordon. Willie takes guests to his ancestral rock art sites, set high in the hills above Hope Vale, outside Cooktown. Here he shares the stories behind the art, and explains how the paintings speak of the essence of life and the lores of his people. With his great smile and infectious laugh, Willie gives an amazing insight into Aboriginal society, and shows how we all have a spiritual place, wherever we come from.
The Rainbow Serpent Tour takes you through a dramatic landscape to six rock art sites, including an ancestral Birth Cave and the Reconciliation Cave. Includes an estimated 30 minute bush walk on generally easy terrain. Return to Cooktown and experience the 360 degree views from Grassy Hill. Cooktown is a town rich in history... rich in nature... rich in spirit. On your return journey, follow the Great Dividing Range, the backbone of Australia. Travel through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Goldfield region. Spectacular scenery, the Outback of Far North Queensland. Your tour of amazing discovery will come to a close as you are transferred to your accommodation.
