Tour Description
Pre-tour overnight dorm accommodation at The Cavenagh in Darwin included
Day 1 - Darwin to Kakadu
We view wildife at the pristine Mary River Wetlands on a crocodile & wildlife cruise. After lunch, we visit Bowali Visitor Centre and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Ubirr Rock. Overnight camp in Kakadu National Park. (LD)
Day 2 - Kakadu to Darwin
Our first stop is the awesome Jim Jim Falls located deep within striking escarpment country, where we walk to the base of the falls. After lunch, we head to Twin Falls where we join a National Park operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall where you can relax on the sandy bank, before travelling back to Darwin. Overnight dorm accommodation included.(BL)
Day 3 - Darwin to Katherine Gorge
After a refreshment break at Adelaide River we head to Katherine, home to the majestic Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge situated in the Nitmiluk National Park where we spend the entire afternoon either canoeing or cruising (at own expense) the striking gorge. Dinner and overnight stay is at our permanent camp near Katherine Gorge. (LD)
Day 4 - Katherine Gorge to Tennant Creek
A short distance south, relax in a crystal clear thermal pool surrounded by lush tropical forest at Mataranka. Next we visit the famous outback pub at Daly Waters, the oldest in the Northern Territory and first international airport in Australia After lunch, we travel south to Tennant Creek for our overnight camp at Juno Horse Farm. Day 5 - Tennant Creek to Alice Springs
This morning we check out the Devils Marbles; precariously balanced granite boulders sacred to the traditional owners' then stop in at the Barrow Creek Pub to view the historic Telegraph Station. A little further down the 'track' we take a break at Ti Tree, for an opportunity to purchase authentic Aboriginal art. We then cross the Tropic of Capricorn and arrive into Alice Springs late in the afternoon. Overnight dorm accommodation included. (LD)
Day 6 - Alice Springs to Kings Canyon & Uluru
We journey to Kings Canyon where we explore the spectacular North and South Walls, the 'Amphitheatre', 'Lost City' and the 'Garden of Eden'. (In summer, walks may be shortened due to extreme temperatures). After lunch, we travel on to Uluru (Ayers Rock) for our overnight stay in our private campsite. (LD)
Day 7 - Uluru to Alice Springs
We start early for the Uluru sunrise, Take a base walk or choose to climb Uluru. We visit Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and learn about the significance of this spiritual place. After lunch, we depart for Alice Springs viewing the rugged desert scenery along the way. (BL)
