Tour Description
A day that includes a fascinating peak into the history of Hermannsburg Aboriginal Mission, followed by "Adventure" as we 4WD through the ancient Finke River bed to Palm Valley. Takes in stunning scenery of the West MacDonnell Ranges along the way.
Itinerary:
Emu Run collect you from your Alice Springs accommodation at 7.30am.
We enjoy stunning scenery as we travel along the West MacDonnell Ranges to the historic Hermannsburg Mission (home of famous Aboriginal artist Albert Namitjira) where we have morning tea (freshly made Apple Strudel) before exploring the mission’s grounds, pioneer buildings, a song in the historic church, and art gallery which includes Namitjira originals.
Depart Hermannsburg and 4WD along the ancient Finke Riverbed to the amazing Palm Valley which is famous for the Red Cabbage Palms found growing naturally nowhere else in the world. We take a walk up to Kalarragna Rock lookout and marvel at the natural Amphitheatre and incredible landscape. We travel through Cycad Gorge and enjoy a guided walk along the rim of the valley and a delicious lunch before returning to Alice Springs, arriving back into town at sunset.
