Day 1
Adelaide - Coorong National Park - Robe

We will pick you up from your Adelaide City hotel around 0830h. We leave Adelaide via Stirling and drive across the beautiful Adelaide Hills to Strathalbyn and Langhorne Creek. Historic Bleasdale Wynyard is definitely worth a visit and let us wonder back in time. We travel on and cross the mighty Murray River on a ferry at Murray Bridge. We will proceed across barren plains to Meningie along Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert to Policeman Point, where we will enjoy lunch. Local fish can usually be tasted. Further on, we will explore some beautiful sand dunes and go for a walk along the deserted beaches of the Southern ocean. Feel the power of the ocean with its dangerous under tows and listen to the impressive roar of the incoming- or outgoing tide. We then drive along to Robe, a Chinese immigrant settlement established in the 1850's - our destination for tonight.

Accommodation: Lakeview Motel, Robe (or similar)
Meals: Lunch
Entries: National Parks, Wine tasting at Bleasdale Winery

Day 2
Robe - Glenelg River - Grampians National Park

Breakfast is served around 0800h. We leave Robe as early as possible. Woakwine cutting will give you an idea of the hardship and effort of early settlers in cultivating their share of land by draining it first. We then drive along pine plantations to Mt. Gambier via Millicent. Let’s explore the magnificent blue Lakes and the Umpherstone Sinkhole before proceeding to Nelson. Nelson is nestled right on the Glenelg River mouth - on the fringe of the Glenelg National Park. If the weather permits, we may explore this mighty, meandering River by boat or we’ll be visiting the Princess Margaret Rose Caves carved out of lime stone, on a rainy day. Lunch at Nelson Pub or pick-nick lunch depending on the weather situation. Later in the afternoon we’ll head towards Hamilton and Dunkeld and our journey will take us along the Serra ranges and Mt. William ranges to Halls Gap, the centre of the Grampians National Park. With a bit of luck we may see Kangarooes or we may come across one of the many friendly Koalas around. Overnight in one of the hospitable guest houses. Meet great people and later on, we’ll have dinner at the renown Kookaburra Restaurant where local specialities may be tasted. A comprehensive selection of local wines is also available.

Accommodation: Colonial Motor Inn, Halls Gap (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
Entries: National Parks, Boat trip on Glenelg River or entry to The Princess Margaret Rose Caves

Day 3
Grampians National Park

After breakfast at 0800h, we start exploring the Grampians National Park. Firstly, we will be hiking through rugged forests to the summit of "The Pinnacles" with stunning views all around. The more adventurous can challenge themselves to stand right on the edge of the lofty summit. A tasty lunch in Halls Gap follows, before we visit lofty Lookouts with some of the most spectacular views Victoria has to offer. Baroka- and Reeds Lookout are definitely worth a visit before we hike to The Balconies where one may stand near the Jaws of Deaths. The roaring waters of the McKenzie Waterfalls are next on the agenda before returning to Halls Gap. The remaining time before dinner is at one’s disposal. Stroll through friendly Halls Gap, swim in one of the nearby crystal clear lakes or simply just relax.

Accommodation: Colonial Motor Inn, Halls Gap (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
Entries: National Parks

Day 4
Halls Gap, Grampians National Park - Apollo Bay

Our host will have a delicious Breakfast ready for us by 0800h. Today, we’ll head for the ocean and reach the rugged coastline after a three hour drive across typical sheep, cattle and dairy country. We will learn more about the razor blade sharp lime stone cliffs at The Grotto and The London Bridge. Lunch at Port Campbell, which was first used by sealers and whalers. In the early afternoon we will be exploring the story of the great ship Loch Ard on her fatal journey when she crashed into the cliffs of Mutton Bird Island in 1878. Let us take you to the site of the tragic shipwreck at Loch Ard Gorge. The rugged rock formations of The Twelve Apostles is our next stop. After a short drive we shall let you experience some of the remaining parts of stunning Southern tropical rainforest at Mait’s Rest before we reach Apollo Bay with lovely views. Overnight stay and dinner in Apollo Bay.

Accommodation: Coastal Motel, Apollo Bay (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Entries: National Parks

Day 5
Apollo Bay - Geelong - Ballarat

Breakfast will be served at 0800h. Our today’s journey will take us along the meandering and spectacular Great Ocean Road, built in the early 1900's. Join us for a hike along the beach. We continue our great southern tour and we will stop at various Lookouts along the Great Ocean Road and learn more about the past and the tragedies of the unforgiving shipwreck coast. After lunch, which is held near the Lighthouse at Airies Inlet, we shall reach Geelong, the second biggest shipping port in Victoria after Melbourne. A pleasant drive on the old diggers route to Ballarat follows across typical country side. Just another piece of living history. Around 0530h, we’ll check in at the Sovereign Hill Lodge. After a welcome drink you will enjoy a hearty and traditional dinner at the legendary Charly Napier Hotel on Main Road before you anticipate the re-enactment of the Eureka Stockade. The fascinating Sound and Light show tells the story of a handful of diggers fighting the cruel and corrupt Government over claim taxes.

Accommodation: Sovereign Hill Lodge, Ballarat (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Entries: National Parks, Sovereign Hill Historic Park including Sound and Light Spectacular

Day 6
Ballarat - Sovereign Hill - Melbourne

After a short City tour of Ballarat, we’ll be spending most of the remaining day at Sovereign Hill Historic Park, where one can learn about the thrill and hardship diggers experienced in those early days from all over the world. One can pan for gold, see the impressive steam engines and steam driven pump at work, watch skilled tradesmen manufacturing beautiful craft and join us on a underground mine tour to wonder back in time. Taste a Cornish pasty for lunch at the New York Bakery on Main Road. It is now time to move on to Melbourne, where we will transfer you to your City Hotel.
