Tour Description
A day of sightseeing, to the Cairns Highlands is not complete, without taking time to explore what the local food and wine producers have to offer.
On tour, with Food Trail Tours, you not only explore the sights, you also visit local food and wine producers. With tropical fruit wines, macadamias and coffee, as well as tropical fruits, cheeses, and a hint of chocolate, there is something for everyone on the Cairns Highlands / Atherton Tablelands.
On the Highlander Food Trail Tour there are two tropical fruit wineries, both coffee and macadamia plantations and a dairy farm producing cheeses and chocolates. The tour travels through both the wet and dry tropics tropics, and also makes a stop at the amazing Curtain Fig Tree.
You will meet locals and experience interactive farm tours where you are able to talk with owners and family
members who work the business. Every stop you make during the day, is a different tour experience, and each stop has sample tastings.
Conspicuous in their absence are, other coaches, and souvenir shops. You will be taken off the highways, to private farms, and hidden places, with exceptional produce. It is a wonderful change of pace, providing amazing insights into Australian country life.
Your all inclusive lunch, features Barramundi, tropical fruits, salad, and tropical fruit juice, with locally produced tropical accompaniments. If you can’t eat seafood an alternative can be arranged, with your driver/guide, on the day.
Because you travel in a small air-conditioned coach and tour private farms, your day will be very personalised, and relaxing. How the farmers produce tropical foods, and tropical fruit wines, is very interesting, and you often hear about it from the farmer.
The Highlander Food Trail Tour is a full day, on the tropical food trail, departing Cairns, and the northern beaches, three days a week.
