Travel by 4WD air-conditioned vehicle north along the Captain Cook Highway with it’s spectacular coastal views, hugging the coast this drive is one of Australia's most scenic.
Cross the Daintree River by Cable Ferry, and visit Cape Tribulation for monring tea before taking to the 4WD only Bloomfield Track. This will take you through some of the most incredible scenery in the country, crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges. Learn about the intricacies of this fragile eco-system as you travel through this remote and beautiful environment.
Visit the Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre, Wujal Wujal, which is located on the banks of the Bloomfield River with an opportunity to visit and talk with local Indigenous artists. Enjoy lunch before continuing north to visit the infamous and quirky Lion’s Den Hotel one of Queensland’s landmark pubs, built in 1875 made of timber and iron. A short distance see the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend before arriving in Cooktown.
Cross rivers and mountain ranges, lunch at the famous Lions Den Hotel, visit the mysterious Black Mountains. Have your camera ready for the 360-degree views from Grassy Hill of the Coral Sea, Endeavour River and Cooktown.
Enjoy up to 2 hours free time to explore historic Cooktown, visit the World Class James Cook Museum, (entrance not included) or stroll the self-guided heritage walk along the Main Street and shores of the Endeavour River.
Your tour finishes in Cooktown and includes transfers to Cooktown Airport for the return 45-minute flight with Hinterland Aviation along the scenic Daintree Coast and the Great Barrier Reef. Arrive Cairns General Aviation Airport at 6.50pm. Upon arrival in Cainrs, make your own way back to your hotel (transfer not included).
Morning Tea and Lunch, one way touring, one way flight, and airport transfers to the Cooktown Airport.
(Passengers from Port Douglas may choose to add an optional extra transfer back to their hotel at the end of the flight. Transfer is provided by a local transfer provider not the tour operator.)
