Depending on the days that they are open and the date that you are travelling, we will select some great wineries to visit. A selection of those that we frequent is below:
We start at Punt Road Winery a friendly and welcoming Award Winning Winery owned by the Napoleone Family that have been Orchardists in the Yarra valley since the 1940's. They planted their first vineyards in 1983 and since become highly regarded for their Yarra Valley Punt Road label. The have now moved to include hand-crafted cider.
Next Cold Stream Hills Winery founded by Renowned Wine Writer James Halliday in 1985.
Then onto Medhurst Wine with wine that reflects the site and variety from which it is made and the season in which it is grown.
Followed by Dominique Portet Winery a centuries old wine making family. The Portet family holds possibly an unmatched record in the Australian wine industry. Dominique is the ninth generation in his family to be committed to wine making. His family has had links with the wine industry since 1720 in his native Bordeaux.
This is where we offer you the opportunity to purchase lunch of a delicious Mediterranean Platter with wine.
We may travel to Maddens Rise where the philosophy is to maintain, preserve, and where possible, and appropriate, ecologically enhance the natural vineyard environment by embracing the use of ‘biological’ farming practices in other words keep it Organic.
Another winery we may visit is Greenstone Winery, one of Yarra Valleys most progressive unique winery with award winning wines that are sold both nationally and in key markets around the world. Here we may stop for their Cheese Platter and accompanying wines
DeBortoli Winery is next interesting wine from some of the oldest vines in the valley. Fantastic cheese and wine tastings with Italian style ambiance. Richard Thomas the world famous cheese maker for over 30 years was the first to make a cheese room for this Winery and its only progressed from here. You can sample taste or buy at your pleasure.
We may also visit Balgownie Estate Vineyard established by the now legendary winemaker Stuart Anderson in 1969. This vineyard was the first vineyard planted in the Bendigo district more than 80 years age. This is one of Australia's great small vineyard famed for its long lived Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
