Tour Description
This tour gives a brilliant overview of The Adelaide Hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula regions.
We first stop at Mt Lofty Summit for views over the city of Adelaide (perfect photo opportunity - weather permitting). We then travel to the historic Adelaide Hills township of Hahndorf with free time for shopping and browsing the many interesting stores. Included is a delicious morning tea at the Hahndorf Inn. Departing from Hahndorf we travel the picturesque countryside to the Fleurieu Peninsula passing through Goolwa, a popular tourist destination near the mouth of the Murray River and formerly an important river port in the mid 1850's. On Wednesday's, Sunday's and during school holidays we have the optional highlight (at own cost) of hopping aboard the Cockle Train taking a 30 minute ride from Goolwa to Victor Harbor experiencing a bygone era of this interesting train ride along the coastline rejoining the tour at Victor Harbor. For those not partaking in the Cockle Train we continue from Goolwa, stopping at the Port Elliot Lookout of views of this amazing coastline and possibly sighting whales during whale season. Our next stop is at Victor Harbor with approximately 2 Hours free time, enough time to catch the Horse Drawn Tram to Granite Island (own cost), browse the many shops, purchase some lunch (own cost) and experience the atmosphere of this popular seaside town.
Departing Victor Harbor we then travel to McLaren Vale for free time in the main street with time to visit some wineries for tasting, visit the Almond Train, Medlows Chocolates before heading back to Adelaide.
