• Marvel at the views as you visit a number of scenic natural landmarks within the Blue Mountains
• Enjoy exploring the Sydney 2000 Olympics site, Featherdale Wildlife Park and Scenic World
• Savour the delicious lunch you’ll have at a licensed Katoomba restaurant
• Learn about the area’s history, flora and fauna as you visit various sites
An early 7:15 am start to the day will see you being picked up from your Sydney accommodation in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach for the first leg of your journey. Your first destination will be the infamous Sydney 2000 Olympic site – known as the site of the ‘Best Olympic games ever’ – where you will be able to look around and see what has changed and what the site is being used for today.
Following your visit to the Olympics site, you’ll be able to take in the scenery on the short drive to the very popular Featherdale Wildlife Park. At Featherdale, you’ll have close encounters of the cuddly kind with a variety of Australian wildlife species, such as kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, wombats, emus, Tasmanian Devils, dingoes and more! After your ‘wild’ encounters at Featherdale, you can opt for a delightful and scrumptious lunch at a licensed Katoomba restaurant ($15 extra, payable on the bus).
With all the excitement of the morning, it’s time for a relaxing, peaceful location, so you will take the coach to the amazing Wentworth Falls and the Leura Cascades for a moment of hushed awe. Next, Cahill’s Lookout offers a view that has to be seen to be believed, overlooking the stunning Megalong Valley and Boar’s Head Rock. Don’t put your camera away just yet, as the next stop is one of the Blue Mountain’s most popular – the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point! From here, you’ll also see Mt. Solitary, the Jamieson Valley and Australia’s ‘Grand Canyon’.
Close by at Scenic World*, you can opt to ride the Skyway or Cableway for unparalleled views of the Jamieson Valley, the Three Sisters and the Katoomba Falls. The Skyway is suspended 270 metres above the forest below, with either electro-glass flooring or solid flooring (depending on how brave you are). The Cableway is the Southern Hemispheres steepest and largest aerial cableway, taking passengers to and from the Jamieson Valley and its 2.4 km of stunning rainforest walkway.
You may also opt to jump aboard the Scenic Railway – the world’s steepest incline railway – for a journey through the lush vegetation to an elevated boardwalk, from which you can take an interpretive walk (*the Scenic Railway , both cableways plus forest boardwalk experience at Scenic World is an optional extra for $35, payable on the day).
Throughout the day, you will also learn a bit about the local Indigenous culture, European history and facts about the endemic flora and fauna of the area. Before heading back to Sydney, you will stop at Leura for a tour of the town’s stunning manicured gardens. You’ll also get to spend a few dollars (or just browse, if you have a very strong will) at the locally famous Candy Store, which is like Heaven on Earth for those with a sweet tooth! On the coach trip back to your accommodation, you’ll enjoy some Aussie Folk music while admiring the view of the Parramatta River, the Harbour Bridge and the Harbour, arriving back at around 6pm.
Prices are listed in Australian dollars and include GST.
