Want to view the majestic Twelve Apostles and hang around a little longer? Then this hop on-hop off tour is definitely the one for you. Travel the famous Great Ocean Road and immerse yourself in the spectacular scenery that surrounds this historic thoroughfare. Take your time!
Departing Melbourne at 7 am daily, your friendly driver will pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation anywhere in the inner city of Melbourne or St. Kilda. Extending your stay on the Great Ocean Road is brilliant for those of us who have the time and flexibility to stay an extra night or two in the scenic seaside villages of Lorne, Apollo Bay or Port Campbell. Hop on and Hop off at the local Information Centre and you can simply re-join the next day or the next week to continue your tour. What a terrific alternative to the self-drive tour!
Explore the beauty and embrace the experience and the magic of the Great Ocean Road and surrounds. You’ll visit the Memorial Arch – an iconic arch that was built manually by returned servicemen from World War One as a tribute of their fallen comrades. This spectacular example of brotherhood was integral in opening this area up to the public.
Passing through the quaint, picturesque coastal towns of Lorne, Apollo Bay and Port Campbell is an absolute delight. You’ll enjoy a lovely visit to the Cape Otway Lighthouse and get to enter the oldest surviving lighthouse on the mainland of Australia. Surrounded by fantastic views, you’ll learn the fascinating culture and history of the land’s traditional owners – the Gadabanud people – at the informative cultural centre. Peruse the eucalypts for a peak at the cute and very cuddly koalas. Watch and giggle as the cheeky native birds try to pinch the odd titbit or two.
After feasting on a sumptuous Aussie BBQ and completely filled to the brim, you’ll have the Rainforest experience of a lifetime. Take in the lush emerald green surrounds of the Otway rainforest moss laden rocks all interspersed with some of the tallest eucalyptus tree types in the world. Back on the coach and you’re in for a very special treat. You’ll visit the Twelve Apostles, the Arch, Razorback, Dumpling Pot and London Bridge – these superb structures have been chiselled by Mother Nature over thousands of years. The tumbling grey seas of the Great Southern Ocean and the blustery, wintry winds crash, thunder and pummel these magnificent limestone outcrops to perfection. Climb down the Gibsons Steps and get a whole new perspective of this magical place.
Discover the amazing and often treacherous history of the Shipwreck Coast surrounded by the sheer cliff faces of the Loch Ard Gorge
You arrive back in Melbourne at approximately 8:30 pm, where you’ll be returned to your accommodation.
