Leave the city of Adelaide behind and experience Australia as nature intended: all waterfalls, wildlife and scar-like crags on the landscape. This three day tour begins at the tranquil Adelaide Hills, followed by a trek through the beautiful Grampians National Park, and concluding with the surfing haven that is the Great Ocean Road.

  • Visit the highlights of the Grampians National Park, including MacKenzie Falls
  • Take in spectacular views of Victoria from the Balconies and the Pinnacle
  • See Australia's diverse and unique wildlife
  • Learn about ancient Aboriginal history
  • See the rock formations along the Great Ocean Road, such as the Twelve Apostles
  • Enjoy beautiful beaches and surfing hotspots

Day one

A whistle stop tour of the Adelaide Hills is a perfect precursor to this nature tour, where various National Parks and areas of esteemed beauty reside. Take a moment to admire Mount Arapiles during your mid-morning coffee, then on it is to the Grampians National Park, which is full to the brim with carpets of wildflowers, shrubs and fauna, and home to ancient Aboriginal rock art.

Keep an eye out for wildlife such as kangaroos and cockatoos venturing out around dusk, before we settle at MacKenzie Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Victoria. Looking out over Victoria Valley at the Balconies is another highlight of this trip, especially at sunset. Day one concludes with an overnight stay in hostel accommodation in the centre of this National Park.

Day two

No visit to the Grampians would be complete without climbing the Pinnacle. Your bravery at venturing out on to this spur, which rises from the surrounding steep cliffs, will be rewarded by amazing views over western Victoria. At the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre, learn all about the ancient history this area of Australia is synonymous with, and perhaps there will be time for a spot of rock climbing. You will be accompanied by the dormant volcano of the Tower Hill Reserve at lunch, and maybe some of the local wildlife that call the nearby lake and wetlands home.

Next stop is the Great Ocean Road, where the unusual rock formations along the Shipwreck Coast, including the Bay of Martyrs, Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge, can be admired. The Twelve Apostles will surely steal the show, when these fascinating limestone cliffs are painted darker by the sunset. A good night's sleep in hostel accommodation will prepare us for the adventure of day three.

Day three

After a hearty breakfast, the day starts with a trek through some of the oldest temperate rainforest on the planet at Otway National Park. This is followed by a chance to wonder at the unique coastal roads, some of which were carved by World War I servicemen upon their return to the country. Explore Lorne and Apollo Bay, two quaint, artistic seaside villages, or enjoy a quick swim.

Chill with the surfers at Bells Beach, Anglesea and Torquay, where Quicksilver and Rip Curl hail from, and see for yourself why these places are surfing meccas. After stopping at the famous Split Point Lighthouse, you will have the chance to observe one of Australia's most loved animals at Kennett River Koalas, before we make our way through Geelong towards Melbourne.

Everyone around the world says Australia has some of the most beautiful natural scenery on the planet, and this tour proves it. Come and see for yourself!
