This is the best 3 day 4WD tour of the Red Centre. It is the only way to properly see and experience this amazing land. Spend 3 days exploring the Australian outback around Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Sleep in swags under the stars in private campsites and enjoy delicious meals cooked over open fires, as expert guides help you navigate this magical desert landscape.

Day 1: Alice Springs to Ayers Rock (LUNCH*/DINNER)

Meet in the morning in Alice Springs and make the journey to Ayers Rock, arriving in the early afternoon. Arrive at Uluru, a sacred site to the Anangu people, and embark on an interpretive walk at the base.

Visit the Cultural Center, an impressive place to learn about local history, and then watch changing colors of Uluru as the sun sets. Eat dinner cooked over an open fire, enjoy some campfire stories and the view of the stars before getting a good night's rest at a private campsite.

Day 2: Ayers Rock to Kata Tjuta (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)

Wake up early to witness a mesmerizing Uluru sunrise—proving that mornings truly are a magical time in the desert. Take a short drive to Kata Tjuta, an Aboriginal word for "many heads." Explore the Valley of the Winds, a gorgeous desert landscape lined by creek beds and domes.

After lunch, travel to Kings Creek Station to spend the night in a private camp.

Day 3: Kata Tjuta National Park to Alice Springs (BREAKFAST/LUNCH)

Enter the Watarrka National Park, home of a soaring red-rock chasm situated above lush palm forests. Walk around the rim of the canyon to visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City, and the Garden of Eden. Eat lunch, your final meal with the group, and make your way back to the outback town of Alice Springs, arriving in the late afternoon.

  • Included in price:

    Professional guide, travel in an air-conditioned minibus, meals as indicated, camping equipment and fees including swag, reference books, pillow, drinking water (please provide your own bottle).

  • Available for purchase/hire:

    Sleeping bags can be hired for $30 - please pay this directly when you check in for your tour.

    Camping is in swags on this safari. For guests requiring a tent there is a $60 per person hire fee payable direct on date of travel. Tents must be requested prior to departure.

  • Pickup/departure instructions:

    We collect and return guests from all Alice Springs hostel and hotel accommodation. Departure time will be confirmed by phoning our reservations department 48 hours prior to departure. Pick ups commence from 5.00am.

    This tour can also commence from Ayers Rock (Uluru) at the Outback Pioneer Hotel at 1.00pm or from Ayers Rock Airport where we meet all afternoon flights. Please advise flight information when booking if an airport collection is required. The tour concludes in Alice Springs only. We recommend guests arrive on the Jetstar or Virgin Australia flights into Ayers Rock. Although we collect guests arriving on the later Qantas service please note that these guests will not receive a full experience at Uluru should they choose this service.

  • What to bring:

    Torch, wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, water bottle (1.5 litres), walking shoes/boots, sleeping bag (or can be hired for $30), toiletries, swim wear, towel, camera, comfortable and casual clothing for 3 days. Note: Due to limited space on the vehicle please restrict luggage to a day pack and one soft overnight bag/backpack (maximum 10kg). Excess luggage should be stored at your Alice Springs accommodation if commencing and finishing in Alice Springs.
