A five day tour through Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks, experience the best the Top End has to offer.
This our to Kakadu departs Darwin on saturdays between May- October. In 2020 there are no departures on June 27th, July 4th and July 11th and in 2021 there are no departures on June 26th, July 3rd or July 10th.
Day 1 (L)
We’ll pick you up at 8am from your Darwin accommodation for your 5 day 4WD tour to Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield- the 3 main parks of the Top End.
Travelling along the Stuart and Arnhem highways, we enter the wetlands region and make our way to Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve. Beautiful Fogg Dam is home to a large variety of animals and birds, which makes it internationally significant.
At Pudakul Aboriginal cultural tours you'll take a 2 hour tour learning basket weaving, dilly bag making and learn about local bush food and medicine. Try spear throwing, blowing the didgeridoo and playing the clapsticks. Damper (bush bread) and tea will be served afterwards.
After lunch we drive to World Heritage listed Kakadu National park, which is Australia’s largest national park and home to some of the world’s finest rock art, around one third of Australia’s bird species and a variety of animals that live in the diverse range of habitats, including floodplains and savannah woodlands.
Our first stop in Kakadu is Ubirr, in the very north of the park. As well as the fantastic galleries of aboriginal rock art, which your guide will interpret, it also offers a spectacular view over the Nadab floodplain and the Arnhemland escarpment, from the lookout at the end of the walk.
After a look around the Bowali visitors centre, we make our way to our accommodation for the next 2 nights. Dinner can be purchased at one of the nearby restaurants.
Overnight accommodation – Anbinik Resort, fan- cooled Bush Bungalows with louvres, fridge, tea / coffee and private external en-suite- a few steps from your bungalow.
Upgrade to an Anbinuk Suite (motel room style) with air-con, TV, fridge, tea / coffee, private outdoor deck and private en-suite (please note the shower is outdoor in your private courtyard), for an extra $70 per person twin share and $140 single, per night. Please enquire upon booking to avoid disappointment.
OR upgrade to a hotel room with en-suite at the Mercure Crocodile Hotel for an extra $125 per person twin share and $215 single, per night. Please enquire upon booking to avoid disappointment. Buffet breakfast is included with this option.

Day 2 (B,L)
We spend this morning in the Nourlangie Area and firstly at Nourlangie Rock, an Aboriginal shelter home to a variety of rock which you’ll explore on an interpretive walk with your guide. Then onto Nawalandja lookout, where a short walk leads to a magnificent view over the Nourlangie Rock and Anbangbang Billabong.
After lunch we make our way to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge and falls). The dirt road in is littered with hundreds of termite mounds and after a pleasant walk through a paperbark forest, we reach Maguk waterfall. Here we can have a swim in the plungepool- the perfect way to cool off !
Our final activity today is a 2 hour sunset cruise on Yellow Waters billabong, which is home to a huge variety of birds and the impressive estuarine crocodile.

Day 3 (B,L)
We start today with an insight into the Aboriginal culture of Kakadu at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre.
Our final destination in the park is in the very south of Kakadu and we drive to Gunlom (Waterfall Creek), on an unsealed dirt road. Gunlom has a huge plunge pool which is great for a swim or you can walk to the top of the falls for a swim in the rockpools and a fantastic view over the surrounding country.
Departing Kakadu through the southern entrance, we now head south to Katherine, with a stop en-route in historic Pine Creek.

Day 4 (B,L)
We start today with a cruise through Nitmiluk Gorge, home to 13 spectacular gorges, carved out of the rock by torrential summer rains, over millions of years. During the 2 hour cruise, you’ll learn of Jawoyn people culture and their connection to the gorge, while you relax and enjoy some beautiful scenery.
Departing Katherine, our next stop is also part of Nitmiluk National Park. Leilyn (Edith Falls) is well known for it’s picturesque waterfalls and pools and the large pool at the base of the escarpment is great for a swim.
We head north again to the township of Adelaide and Mt Bundy Station, which is our accommodation tonight. Set amongst termite mounds and next to the river, Mt Bundy is home to an array of animals including wallabies, cattle, horses and water buffalo and also has an interesting history.

Day 5 (B,L)
Today is spent swimming and exploring beautiful Litchfield National Park.
We view the amazing magnetic and cathedral termite mounds and can have a swim at Wangi Falls, Florence Falls and Buley Rockholes which are a series of small waterfalls that are a great place to simply sit and relax. There is also a lovely hike along the riverbank from Florence Falls to Buley Rockholes,
Mid- afternoon, we depart Litchfield and begin our drive back to Darwin, arriving at approximately 5.30pm. You will be dropped off at your accommodation.
END OF TOUR
Seat in 4WD vehicle, 4 nights accommodation, meals as indicated, Kakadu park entry fee, Sunset Yellow Waters cruise, 2 hour Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge cruise, 2 hour Pudakul Aboriginal cultural tour.
Single room is an additional $350. Single travelers must have single room and pay single supplement.
