Tour Description
The Day on the Road....
...beach, bushland, forest and farm; and all the little nooks and crannies of this tumultuous, wild and still free coast - with time to stop and get sand between your toes, and walk through sweet-scented eucalypt forests- until the massive pillars of the Twelve Apostles standing from the ocean take your breath away...
Picked up at your hostel or hotel between 7 & 7.30am. (Depending on where it is) the OTWAY DISCOVERY bus takes you out along the Princes Highway to Geelong, where it turns coastward to Torquay, the famous Bells Beach surf, and on to the Great Ocean Road.
Back inland though wattle-blossom and heath country for a few kilometres before again the ocean appears as you wind down into the little resort town of Anglesea – and kangaroos.
On along the Great Ocean Road behind a long, curving beach towards Urquharts Bluff, the wildflowers in their season blooming on the inland slopes, the Spilt Point lighthouse standing like a great white chess piece above the magnificent orange cliffs of Airey’s Inlet ahead.
Now the Otway Ranges fall down to the Southern Ocean surf itself, an the Road winds its way above the rocky shore- sometimes high above, sometime at sea level- to the resort town of Lorne.
By lunchtime tour have reached Kennett River, where we provide a picnic lunch. You may see an echidna (a relative of the platypus); you will see koalas.
Back on the road after lunch and on to Apollo Bay, Princetown, London Bridge and then the Twelve Apostles.
This is a day you will remember – perhaps for the rest of your life – and if you come back to Australia some day, chances are you’ll come with OTWAY DISCOVERY again; down the Great Ocean Road to re-live a wonderful experience.
