Tour Description

DAY 1

Pick-up from your selected hotel, meet and greet with your guide.

We commence our tour with a Perth city sights and Kings Park tour.

After a short walk around Lake Monger where we view the Black Swans, the emblem of W.A, we head towards Fremantle and enjoy the old buildings, the prison heritage and the fishing and marine area where we can have lunch on the wharf.

Then we enjoy a cruise on the Swan River back to Perth.

We have time then to do some shopping or walk around the city before returning to our hotel.

Overnight: Perth

DAY 2

Today we leave Perth to travel southwards along the coast via Cape Bouvard and the Jarrahdale Range to Bunbury via Dwellingup a small country town which began as a timber town over a century ago.

We will visit the Forestry Centre to see timber craftsmen and women at work, travel along forest walk trails and wander down the tree-top boardwalk.

The township was destroyed by fire in 1961 and subsequently rebuilt.

There is the opportunity to take a hauled diesel/steam train trip through Dwellingup and surrounding forest areas.

Lane Poole Reserve is popular for bushwalking and contains extensive tracks of Jarrah Forest, open woodlands, rocky pools and the upper reaches of the Murray River.

We then travel onwards to view the famous wharves at Busselton where a wide variety of colourful sponges, fish and other sea life makes this one of the best dive sites in Australia.

A walk out along the 2km jetty is popular with both locals and visitors alike and a quaint open-air train also makes the trip every hour or so.

Overnight: Amaroo Motor Lodge, Busselton

DAY 3

Leave Busselton this morning and travel towards Cape Naturaliste where we will visit the Naturaliste Lighthouse.

For a panoramic view, we can climb to the top of the 20m high tower.

From this vantage point we might have the opportunity to look for whales on the specially constructed whale watching platform.

We then travel to Margaret River the heart of one of the best food and wine areas in Australia.

We visit a winery and then travel onto Cape Leeuwin and then onto Cape Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park with its 350 limestone caves in the limestone ridge between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin.

Most are 'wild' undeveloped caves, though the four main caves in the area - Ngilgi, Mammoth, Jewel and Lake Caves - are open to the public with guided tours.

There are also many walks in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park which we can partake if you so desire.

We then progress to our overnight accommodations at Augusta.

Overnight: Best Western Augusta Georgiana Molloy Motel

DAY 4

Traveling on towards Pemberton we follow wilderness trails through W.A's giant Kauri and Jarrah forests crossing narrow valleys and visiting several waterfalls.

We travel on to Pemberton where the famous Gloucester Tree grows.

You may climb this tree if you wish or wander through the giant trees surrounding it.

A sightseeing train ride is an option for a pleasant interlude in this vast timber country.

Overnight: Best Western Pemberton Hotel

DAY 5

Once again this morning, we enjoy the giant forest beauty of this area.

Walpole is our first sight, where we visit The Valley Of The Giants and Hilltop Lookout for panoramic views of the Nornalup Region.

This is really scenic country with a mixture of deep winding rivers, beautiful bays and inlets, waterfalls, rapids, verdant farming land and an unspoilt coastline, birds and animal life.

Our journey then takes us along the coast to Albany, the states oldest settlement set on the shores of the magnificent Princess Royal Harbour and King George Sound which is one of the best natural harbours in the world.

Overnight: Metro Inn, Albany

DAY 6

There will be an early start this morning heading towards Porongurup National Park with its huge granite outcrops which form the Porongurup Range.

The scenery features a spectacular forest of tall Karri Trees, wildflowers, some rare and unique to this area, are prolific in Spring with some 700 species of flowering plants being recorded.

There are also some excellent walking/climbing trails which take visitors through picturesque rocky valleys and panoramic lookouts.

We will then return to our vehicle and travel onwards to the Stirling Range National Park which rises quite imposingly out of the surrounding plains.

The range has several peaks over 1,000m above sea level and offers over 1,500 different flowers and plants with over 125 orchid varieties and ten kinds of mountain bells.

As we descend we pass through Kataning, Narrigin, Pumphreys Historical Homestead and Mt Coolan to conclude our memorable journey in Perth late afternoon.
