Tour Description

To commence our journey we take you on a Broome district tour, once the pearling capital of the world and now a thriving beef industry town.

This morning you will see many highlights and some spectacular coastline including wide sandy Cable Beach.

Leaving the Indian Ocean behind us we then travel into the heart of the wild Kimberley cattle country.

We then continue on along the Gibb River Road to the world’s longest cattle trough, then onwards to the old Boab Tree once used as a prison.

We will then conclude our day in Derby on King Sound famous for its Barramundi fishing where there is a massive tide rise and fall of 11.8 metres.

Day 2
Today we rejoin the Gibb River Road and travel to the Napier Range once an ancient fossil reef.

We then go exploring Winjana Gorge and rest for a picnic lunch.

We follow a back track to visit Tunnel Creek where nature has carved a 750 metre tunnel through the mountain.

Using torches, we discover the remarkable geological feature following the creek through the mountain.

We continue along the back tracks to rejoin the highway to arrive at our over night destination.

Overnight: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing

Day 3: Ungolan Wilderness Camp
Leaving Fitzroy River, we travel through breathtaking scenery and view indigenous wildlife and flora to Geike Gorge where we will enjoy a relaxing cruise viewing the many splendid sights of this famous waterway, known for its magnificent reflections.

We make our progression to Western Australia’s first mining town, Halls Creek where we will relax overnight.

Day 4
Today we experience the real Kimberley’s from the comfort of our luxury 4WD vehicle as we pass through the rugged ranges to Cathedral Gorge.

This area is known for its honeycomb formations which we will view close hand on our walk through the Gorge.

We rejoin our vehicle and head towards our overnight destination of Bellburn Camp in the Bungle Bungles where we will enjoy a night in the real outback of Australia.

We have the option here of taking a short drive to a helicopter pad where you may be able to take a sightseeing flight over the Bungle Bungle Ranges.

Overnight: Permanent Camp, Purnululu National Park

Day 5
We begin with an early start to the day heading off to visit Echidna Chasm which reveals a hidden valley of beautiful ferns and palms.

We explore the depths of the cathedral and the Piccaninny Ranges.

We enjoy a real 4x4 adventure as we pass through this special area with its magnificent sandstone domes now officially a National Park.

We will venture into the hidden south eastern corner of the Kimberley region seen only by a few locals until discovered by a television crew in 1982.

Continuing on our journey we head for Turkey Creek and then onwards to El Questro Station.

Overnight: Emma Gorge Resort, El Questro Station
Day 6
This morning we leave El Questro Station and the Pentecost River visiting Emma Gorge.

Leaving the Gibb River Rd we proceed to Wyndham Five Rivers Lookout and Wyndham on the Cambridge Gulf.

We have an afternoon Sunset cruise on the Lily creek lagoon and enjoy a magnificent sunset near Diversion Bridge with a spectacular Barbeque Dinner (including pre dinner nibbles & fruit platter desert).

This cruise is BYO alcohol and soft drinks, but chilled water is provided.

Kunnunurra Cruises will collect you from Hotel Kunnunurra at 3.30pm and drop you back off at Hotel Kununurra: 6.35pm (2 1/2 hours).

Day 7
This morning we travel to Argyle Lake which was created by damming the Ord River and holds nine times more water than the Sydney Harbour.

It supplies water to the vast irrigation areas of Kununurra.

We then cross the state border into the Northern Territory via Gregory National Park and Timber Creek on the mighty Victoria River.

We continue to travel east through vast station properties to reach the city of Katherine.

Overnight: Best Western Pine Tree Motel, Katherine

Day 8
Today we take a morning drive to Nitmiluk National Park, arriving at the beautiful Katherine Gorge for a river cruise along the Katherine Gorge River.

We return to the visitor’s centre by lunch time and during the afternoon we have the time to enjoy the sights of Katherine or just relax by the motel pool.

Overnight: Best Western Pine Tree Motel, Katherine

Day 9
Departing Katherine we travel to Edith Falls where we can enjoy another relaxing swim.

We then take some 4WD trails to enjoy some waterfalls in Kakadu National Park.

We will arrive in the afternoon at our overnight accommodations where we will have time for an afternoon rest before the wonderful experience of a Yellow Waters Sunset cruise viewing the abundant wildlife including Crocodiles, Jabirus and the prolific birdlife of this waterway.

Overnight: Gagudju Lodge, Cooinda

Day 10
This morning we will begin our day with a Nourlangie Rock the site of some aboriginal art where we will view some rock paintings.

We will then move onwards to Ubir Rock an area steeped in aboriginal history and traditions.

After a short walk to the top of the rock we can view the magnificent plains of Kakadu National Park.

We then travel onwards to Jabiru where we will stretch our legs and visit the many sights of this township.

We then progress onwards along the Arnhem Highway to our overnight destination where we will enjoy a relaxing evening at Rum Jungle Inn.

Overnight: Rum Jungle Bungalows, Batchelor

Day 11
On this our final day we will leave Bachelor, visiting Florence Falls where we have the opportunity to enjoy a morning swim.

We then visit Bluey Rockholes, Tolmer Falls and then onwards to Wangi Falls where we have another opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters below the falls.

Here we will enjoy a picnic lunch amongst the unique tropical oasis of Litchfield Park.

After a hearty lunch we continue to beautiful Berry Springs Nature Park.

This afternoon we will continue north along the famous Stuart Highway to the capital of the Top End to conclude our memorable journey.
