This two-day adventure takes you along the Great Ocean Road, where you see all the fabulous coastal towns and the well known sights along the way for example the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge and lots more. After spending the night at Hall's Gap you set off to see the magnificent Grampians, their beauty will amaze you. The other highlight is you will see Australian wildlife!
Day One (lunch included)
Departing from your Melbourne CBD accommodation at around 7 am, your first day begins with a trip out of Melbourne, viewing the passing sights in a comfortable, air-conditioned mini bus. Your first stop at one of the coast's famous surfing beaches will allow you to view the surfers enjoying their morning paddle while you enjoy some delicious morning tea. Then, it's on to the great Ocean Road's famous Memorial Arch for some photos.
You'll enjoy a walk along a beautiful beach, before visiting Lorne and Anglesea to see the coastal sights from the beaches and lookouts within these areas. A stop at Kennett River will give you the opportunity to spot some wild koalas, as well as see some of the gorgeous birds which inhabit the area, such as Kookaburras, King parrots and Crimson Rosellas.
Following a scrumptious lunch at Apollo Bay, you'll head off to Otway's Rainforest (Maits Rest) for a guided bushwalk along a gentle 800-metre circuit through this ancient and glorious temperate rainforest. Afterwards, you'll visit the awe-inspiring limestone Twelve Apostles structure, which is an amazingly inspirational site to photograph. IF you'd like to treat yourself to a helicopter flight to get a bird's eye view of this amazing location, an additional fee applies (~ $145, weather and time permitting).
After the thrill of seeing the Twelve Apostles, you'll be equally thrilled to see the stunning Loch Ard Gorge! You can walk over to the popular Razorback, Salt & Pepper or simply take in the wonder of the towering cliffs against the bright sky and moody ocean from the beach below. Then, the London Bridge rock structure will fascinate you with its majesty and history.
Before settling down in your overnight accommodation at the beautiful Hall's Gap in the heart of the Grampians, you'll delight in a bit of night time kangaroo spotting!
Day Two (breakfast included)
You'll awaken at Hall's Gap to the morning delights of the amazing Grampians National Park. You'll be able to see the morning antics of the surrounding wildlife, including a variety of birds, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, emus and even echidnas, as you get ready for your day ahead. You'll explore the majestic sandstone ridges of the eucalyptus rich Grampians, walking up to Hollow Mountain or Chautauqua Peak to experience the sweeping views, including the stately Mt. Stapylton. While the walk is fairly moderate, there are some challenging uphill sections with slippery slopes and rough terrain, so make sure you bring some good sturdy shoes and at least two litres of drinking water.
You'll return to Hall's Gap for some quiet reflective time before visiting the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre for a comprehensive look into the amazing history and culture of the Jardwadjali and Djab Wurring Indigenous people. Afterwards, you'll take a relaxing walk along the lakeshore at Lake Bellfield and experience the phenomenal views of Reed's Lookout, before visiting MacKenzie Falls or Silverband Falls.
Finally, you'll stop in at an historic Aussie country pub for some good old-fashioned hospitality and maybe a drink or two (at own expense) to celebrate your amazing couple of days. You'll then return to Melbourne and your accommodation at approximately 6 pm.
