Departing from Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre or your nearby hotel at around 8am, you will journey eastward through the dappled sunlight of the spectacular Darling Ranges, before stopping in historic York for morning tea (own expense). The first township founded in the Avon Valley, York offers a delightful insight into the days of yore, with turn of the century Victorian buildings and well serviced facilities.

Travelling further east through the wheat belt region, en route to Wave Rock in the small township of Hyden, you will make a stop at the renowned Dog Cemetery in Corrigin, Australia's tribute to its working sheep dogs.

Before enjoying a delicious chicken buffet lunch at Wave Rock Visitor Centre & Cafe, you'll visit Hippo’s Yawn, a 13 metre tall natural rock formation, resembling a yawning hippopotamus. The little known rock near Hyden, is defined by the local Aboriginal people as a sacred women's place. After lunch, visit the nearby Wildlife Park for an encounter with some of Australia's unique animals, or enjoy the fascinating Antique Lace Collection.

Next on the agenda is the much anticipated visit to Wave Rock, a flared granite slope, 15 metres high and 110 metres long, with the appearance of a giant breaking wave. Considered to be at least 2 700 million years old, this sacred Aboriginal site is featured in Aboriginal dreamtime stories and is inherent to Aboriginal culture. You will join a cultural tour that will have you fascinated with dreaming stories, history of the area and visits to other special Aboriginal sites, including Gnamma Holes, the Humps and Mulka's Cave. Your guide will talk about the cave paintings at Mulka's Cave that describe the legend of Mulka the Terrible, an Aboriginal outcast.

With the sun setting and nocturnal creatures beginning to appear in the wheat belt, you will return home via interesting back roads that will lead you to the small farming town of Babakin. In the company of the friendly locals (population 25), enjoy afternoon tea (own expense) and some country hospitality. The unique and very rare Western Underground Orchid grows in the area and will make a wonderful photo opportunity if you see one. A stunning array of wildflowers carpet the back roads of the wheat belt (September to November). Roadside stops will be made to view and photograph them in season.

After waving goodbye to Babakin, you will return to Perth's city lights through the stunning Darling Ranges, returning to your original pick-up point at around 8:30pm.
