This 3-day guided walk will cover the original 1884 Bridal Track (originally 2 metres wide creating the nickname of Six Foot (wide) Track) from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves. The distance is 44 kilometres. You will walk through State Forests and the Blue Mountains National Park, crossing mountain ranges and walking deep valleys. The scenery is simply breathtaking and your pride in completing this walk will be written across your face!

You follow the 1884 heritage horse track which was originally planned as a short cut to Jenolan Caves. Wild rivers, rainforest, woodlands, heath, mountain ranges, beautiful valleys and cascading waterfalls is what you will see as you walk this winding track. The landscape will be forever changing for you.

The flora and fauna will delight you. You may spot kangaroos, wallaroos, wombats, echidnas, butterflies and various bird species as your walk progresses.

A brief version of the itinerary

Day 1

Walk: Approximately 15kms
6 hours walking with breaks
Walk: Medium grade

You follow the main track down to the clifftop lookout above Nellies Glen. From this spot you will be able to see the Megalong Creek Valley which is where you are heading to. From the valley the views back towards the Blue Mountains escarpment are spectacular. You continue through the valley and cross the Bowtells Swing Suspension Bridge to Coxs River. Tonight your accommodation will offer views overlooking Coxs River.

Day 2

Walk: Approximately 19 kms
7 hours with breaks
Walk: Medium grade

This is an uphill day, climbing 800 hundred metres over the course of the day!
The day begins with 3 kms of steep track before you can relax over morning tea. You head towards Black Range following a fire trail along the range, passing through wooded country. When you arrive at the top you transfer the short distance to Jenolan Caves House where you stay the night. A wonderful meal awaits you!

Day 3

Walk: Approximately 10kms
4 hours walking with breaks
Walk: Medium grade

First up after breakfast is a guided tour of the Temple of Baal Cave, the beauty of this cave is truly magnificent.

Now it is time to complete the walk, the last section is along the steep fire trail from Carlotta Arch to Binoomera Ridge. You arrive at Black Range, the end of your 3 day adventure. The group is then transported back to Katoomba.

This walk includes your meals, 2 nights accommodation (Bushwalkers Lodge & Jenolan Caves House ) professional guides, transfer of your belongings each day, tour of Jenolan Caves and a transfer back to Katoomba.

    Departs on Selected Fridays. Please call for availablility. Meet at 8.30am at The Carrington Hotel in Katoomba.

  • What to bring:

    You are allowed one average size overnight pack or bag (no suitcases) – no loose items allowed all items must be enclosed within your overnight bag.
    Your Overnight Pack should include:
    Full weather gear needed as climate is variable;
    We suggest wearing layers when you are walking that you can remove or add as you warm up or cool down;
    Walking clothes suitable to weather: Long sleeves, trousers, shorts, t-shirts, or shirts;
    Closed toe, sturdy footwear; worn at all times. We suggest good walking boots/shoes - that have been walked in at least 4 weeks prior to the walk;
    Thermal underwear, jumper and warm gear for night, scarf, beanie, gloves etc (Black Range is 1200m above sea level it can be very cold here at night so please come prepared – please note it snowed here on one of our September departures);
    2 - 3 pairs of good thick walking socks;
    a pair of shoes to change into at night;
    underwear;
    insect repellent;
    personal toiletries – deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush or comb;
    towel;
    Strong garbage bags or dry bags to waterproof essential equipment.

    Children must be accompanied by an adult and 10 years or older.

  • Additional Information:

    All our guests will have their overnight bags transported to our accommodation leaving you free to relax and enjoy the walk instead of struggling with a large backpack.

    You will just need to carry a small day pack with water, camera and any small personal items you want access to during the day. You won't even need to carry your lunch as your guide will carry the groups lunch.

    We can provide for any special dietary requirements. As the guides will need to provide separate meals for special dietary needs - an additional surcharge of $25.00 will be charged for Gluten free, vegetarians (that don't eat fish) and vegan meals. When booking please specify your special dietary requirements giving us as much information as you can including what sort of food you like. Alternatively you can bring your own meal supplements.

    If travelling alone and you are happy to share a room with another solo travelling of the same gender, there is no single supplement applicable. However if you want to request a room specifically for yourself you will be required to pay an additional amount - please enquire for details.
