K4 - Great Ocean Road Adventure

The perfect destination for those longing to get away from the city, the Great Ocean Road is a haven of natural beauty.

Delivering breathtaking views of the coast, a glimpse into the wild nature of the rainforests, rivers and waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife to visit – it really is a gem to be discovered.

This tour commences in Melbourne around 8.00am (hotel pick ups are available earlier) and includes all the major highlights and sites along the length of the Great Ocean Road. Admire the panoramic views of the Melbourne city skyline as the tour makes its way to the first stop in the surfer’s haven of Torquay, which is the original home of a number of internationally famous surf wear labels including Rip Curl, Quiksilver and Roxy. Time is available here to have a delicious Devonshire tea.

You will also pass Bells Beach, home to the World Surfing Championships during Easter each year. See towering limestone cliffs, sweeping white beaches and stunning forest scenery. It is truly one of the world’s great scenic coastal drives.

Witness a fabulous spectacle of massive natural erosion and marvel at the contrasts between rugged coast and verdant rainforest living side by side.

The drive takes you through the beautiful coastal towns of Anglesea, Lorne and Wye River. Arrive at the beautiful white sandy beaches of the scenic coastal town of Apollo Bay for lunch (own expense or you can pre purchase as an optional extra) – there are several options available for a tasty meal.

Drive through the towering mountain-ash forests of the Otway National Park. You will also see spectacular Cape Patton as well as the Twelve Apostles – limestone stacks rising dramatically from the Southern Ocean. Here you can take a helicopter flight (own expense) or enjoy a scenic walk to the lookouts – just remember your camera!

See Loch Ard Gorge and be swept away by the romantic and tragic story of love and lives lost aboard the Loch Ard. View the Gorge and also the Razorback Lookout. Also discover the tragic history of over 50 ships wrecked along this rugged coastline. There is time for a stop at Port Campbell for afternoon tea (own expense) and afterwards you will see the rock known as London Bridge, parts of which have collapsed in recent years.

The tour concludes back in Melbourne around 7.30pm and drop offs at selected hotels around the CBD are available – you can organise this with the driver during the return journey.

This Great Ocean Road tour departs from the AAT Kings Melbourne Day Tours office, located at Federation Square, on the corner of Flinders and Russell Streets at 8.00am each day. If you require transfers to this departure point, pick ups are available from most hotels in the Melbourne CBD as per the list below.
