This spectacular full-day hike takes you to the Blue Mountains. Travel on the Scenic Railway and hike through the Jamison Valley to scale the majestic Ruined Castle rock formation.

This tour offers pickup from your Sydney or Manly accommodation* from around 7:30 am onwards, or alternatively, you can choose to meet the tour in the Blue Mountains at the Scenic World Group Arrival area, 1 Violet Street, Katoomba (near the main entrance of Scenic World and the car park) at around 9:30 am. Please choose your options during online booking or contact us for further details, if required.

Travelling through beautiful scenery on your way to the Blue Mountains, you can relax in air-conditioned comfort aboard your deluxe tour coach. Upon Arrival at the Blue Mountains, you’ll visit Katoomba’s Scenic World, where you’ll see the amazing Three Sisters rock formation, as well as unbeatable views of the gorgeous Jamison Valley.

To reach the floor of the Valley, you’ll enjoy a ride on the Scenic Railway – the world’s steepest railway – and set off on foot towards the Ruined Castle rock formation. Along the way, you’ll be able to spot wildlife amongst the lush vegetation of the Jamison Valley, while your friendly and professional bushwalking guide regales you with full commentary on the area’s fascinating mining past.

When you reach the majestic Ruined Castle, you’ll climb up to the top and experience breathtaking 360-degree views, spanning both Jamison and Cedar Creek Valleys as far as Katoomba and Wentworth Falls. After you’ve breathed in the fresh air, taken in the stunning vista and amassed a collection of amazing photographs, you’ll make your way back down. After enjoying a delicious gourmet picnic lunch, you’ll return to Scenic World.

For those who joined the tour in the Blue Mountains, this is where your adventure ends; however, for those who joined from Sydney, you’ll spend the afternoon doing some bonus sightseeing of some of the popular locations around the Blue mountains area. Afterwards, you’ll travel again in comfort back to Sydney, arriving between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm, where you’ll be returned to your original pickup location.

This tour acknowledges the Dharug, Gundungurra, Wanaruah, Wiradjuri, Darkinjung and Tharawal Nations as the traditional owners of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

    Passengers joining us in the Blue Mountains: Meet 9.30am sharp outside the Groups Information area at Scenic World, 1 Violet Street Katoomba. (The area is near the main entrance and faces the car park - see photo below). Meet your guide who will be wearing a navy Life's An Adventure shirt. .

    Passengers starting in Sydney: The Blue Mountains is around 2 hours from Sydney, rather than find your own way there via numerous train & bus connections, why not less us pick you up from any hotel in the Sydney CBD or Manly area and drop you off at the end of the day, for an extra charge around the same price as public transport.

  • What to bring:

    We suggest bringing a backpack to carry all your personal items. You may like to bring a camera to capture the amazing scenery you'll experience along the way. To ensure you keep well hydrated, please bring at least 1.5 litres of drinking water (on extremely hot days double this amount). We also recommend a hat and sunscreen.

    Children 8 -16 years are eligible for child rates. Must be able to undertake the 13-kilometre walk. No children allowed under the age of 8. All passengers under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Additional Information:

    BUSHWALK GRADE: Medium to Hard
    Medium to Hard bushwalk with some hilly sections requiring moderate level of fitness. Suitable for those with a good level of fitenss. This is a 13km walk.

    Our activities will normally operate in all but exceptional weather conditions. Conditions such as fog, mist, drizzle, showers, rain,sleet and windy conditions do not affect normal operation of our activities. Please bring a lightweight wet weather jacket (wet weather pants optional).
