During this private tour you will enjoy some of the world's most spectacular coastline, rugged and mountainous scenery, Victoria's amazing rainforests and some of Australia's unique and wonderful wildlife in our tour that encompasses the coast, the mountains and the forest.
Picking up from Melbourne and other central suburbs, our tour sets off at 7 am from Melbourne, where we head through the vast volcanic plains of the Geelong region toward the Great Ocean Road. We see Torquay, the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, at the beginning of our cliff-hugging journey atop the high-drop, rugged coastline. We stop at Lorne, a large seaside town on the Great Ocean Road, where we take in Teddy's Lookout for the spectacular views of the St George River and the sweeping coastal views of the surf crashing against the shore.
Our next stop is at the Cape Otway Lightstation, where you can opt to do the Otway Treetop Walk. The Cape Otway Lightstation is Australia's most important lighthouse. It boasts incredible views across the Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean. Look out for dolphins, seals, and even whales from the lighthouse, or explore the rich cultural history of the region in the many museums and cultural centres of the area. Keep your eyes on the treetops as we leave the area, as you are almost certain to catch a cuddly koala munching on the gum trees.
We stop at the Memorial Arch, where we learn about the painstaking construction of the Great Ocean Road, before heading to the world-famous 12 Apostles. Arriving with our cameras ready to take postcard-perfect pictures, we learn about how the limestone stacks formed in the rugged, majestic coastline of south-western Victoria. If you want to get your adrenaline pumping, take a bird's eye view with an optional helicopter ride.
Next, we see Loch Ard Gorge, the site of one of the most important shipwrecks of the 19th century, and the significant beauty of the London Bridge. Once we have been sufficiently captivated by the coastal scenery, we pause in the cool of the rainforest gully and meander through the rainforest in the Otways National Park. The Otways are home to some of the world's tallest trees, prehistoric plants, lush ferns, and many unique and spectacular natural wonders. We take in the majesty of waterfalls and see unique and unusual wildlife in its natural habitat.
We stop at the Timboon Railway Shed Distillery for a foody's feast and a cold one, if you're so inclined. The distillery has stood since before alcohol was legal in Victoria, and was erected by a notorious whiskey lover in 1881.
We take a moment to investigate the region's cultural history, stopping at the Brambuk Living Cultural Centre, where you can take in the mountain views and learn about the surrounding bushland before we had to the indigenous art sites of the area.
Each day we sample some of the region's finest foods, with morning and afternoon tea, homemade delights or local produce. Every day we stop for a gourmet lunch at one of the region's most respected restaurants, and breakfast is provided on days two and three of the tour. With free wifi on the tour, you don't have to miss the comforts of home, and you're definitely not going to miss a thing as we travel through the region's most spectacular sights and activities. Each night, you will relax in accommodation that takes advantage of the natural beauty of the surroundings, while reflecting on the adventures of the day.
