This tour is for passengers who will be driving themselves to Skyrail's Smithfield terminal, where there is ample parking, to start their tour on the Rainforest Cableway. Return from Kuranda on the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway with a coach transfer service to bring you from Freshwater Connection Train Station back to the Skyrail Smithfield terminal.
Skyrail and Kuranda Railway operates in most weather rain or shine, and is the world's most beautiful rainforest experience.
Tour details are:
One-way Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, allow at least 90 minutes for the one way journey, although you may want more time to explore the two Skyrail mid-stations
- Red Peak mid-station - take a self-guided or ranger led walk around the boardwalks along the forest floor
- Barron Falls mid-station - walk to the lookout over the mighty Barron Falls, see the historic artifacts from the original Barron Falls Hydro-Power station and visit the Rainforest Interpretation Centre
Spend some time exploring Kuranda "The village in the rainforest".
One-way Kuranda Scenic Railway return trip to Freshwater Connection Railway Station, Cairns. Travels along a railway line built over 100 years ago, through 15 tunnels and past both the Barron and Stoney Creek Falls.

Skyrail's Smithfield Terminal is located at the corner of Captain Cook Highway and Cairns Western Arterial Road, Smithfield, just 15 minutes drive north of Cairns city and 50 minutes south of Port Douglas.
Self-drive maps are readily available throughout Tropical North Queensland.
**** From June 2018 to January 2019 works are being undertaken to improve Barron Falls Rainforest Station. Some lookouts and displays will be off limits during this time but views of the Barron Falls will still be accessible. ****

Drive yourself to Skyrail's Smithfield terminal where there is ample parking and start your tour on the Rainforest Cableway.
When you return on the Kuranda Scenic Rail a coach transfer service will bring from Freshwater Connection Train Station back to the Skyrail Smithfield terminal. Note that this tour begins from Skyrail's Smithfield terminal.
*Can be completed as a tour beginning in Kuranda, but it is an afternoon tour in this case as you must take the train from Kuranda towards Cairns and this only occurs during the afternoon.
Daypacks and fold-up baby strollers can be taken on the cableway.
Luggage is not able to be carried on the cableway or coach transfer service.
Child Fares 4-14 years.
Infants under 4 years are Free of Charge, however please include them in your booking request to ensure a boarding pass is issued.
Children must be accompanied by an adult while travelling on Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.

Skyrail is the World's Most Beautiful Rainforest Experience. A 7.5km cableway, Skyrail glides just metres over the canopy of Australia's World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforests. Two mid-stations, Red Peak and Barron Falls, provide the perfect opportunity to explore and learn more about this ancient environment on boardwalks and at the Rainforest Interpretation Centre.
