With a mid-morning departure from your Melbourne City accommodation, you'll be escorted in an air-conditioned minibus along the route to the wonderful Phillip Island. Before you reach the island, you'll first visit an Australian Wildlife Park, where you can interact with a huge variety of birds, koalas, kangaroos, emus, wombats, Tasmanian devils and more!
Once you reach Philip Island, you'll make a stop at the beautiful Woolamai Beach on Cape Woolamai. This amazing beach isn't just an infamous surfing spot; it's also a natural habitat for the mutton birds who inhabit the area. The views are stunning - overlooking the beach and ocean in a picture perfect vista that will leave you in awe of nature's beauty. Next, you'll pass by the world famous Grand Prix track - home of the Moto GP, World Superbike Championship and - once upon a time - the V8 Supercar series. Yes, you'll see racing history and be able to snap some pictures of it too!
From Swan Lake*, you'll be able to take a stroll around this attractive location, spotting wetland birds, wallabies and other flora and fauna from the observation platforms hidden around the area. Then it's on to the Nobbies, Seal Rocks and the Blowhole, where you can take a walk along the boardwalk, which curves around the area. From here, you'll be able to see the spectacular views of the coastline, with surf crashing against the headland, the blowhole and - best of all - you'll see the seal colony relaxing in the sun. Seal Rock contains the largest fur seal colony in Australia, with over 16,000 cute and inquisitive seals who will go about their day as you watch, fascinated by their antics. These active mammals are truly a joy to behold and if you are lucky enough to visit in December, you'll be able to see the new additions to the colony, feeding from their mothers and frolicking on the rocks.
If you can bear to pull yourself away from watching the seals, you'll next head over to Summerlands, where you can see the mighty power of the ocean as it crashes beneath the cliff faces. Then, it's time for the pièce de résistance - the little penguins at Penguin Parade! If you thought the seals were cute, you wait until you see these little guys. Watch as the world's smallest penguins march up from the beach in their 'parade' of hundreds, before making their way to their individual burrows and nesting down for the night. The Penguin Parade is an absolute must do when visiting Victoria!
After this extremely memorable day, you'll be taken back to your Melbourne accommodation at around midnight (summer months) or 9 pm (winter months).
* The Swan Lake visit may be omitted during seasonally restricted daylight hours.
