Cape York - 8 Day Accommodated Safari Fly/Drive
Join a small group of like minded guests for the journey of a lifetime. Jump on board our luxury 4WD and travel to the Tip of Australia.
If you want to see Cape York in a bit of style with a small group of no more than six people then this may the tour for you. With many value added inclusions and a knowledgeable local guide to show you the sights, you'll find this tour is very good value for money. On this personal 8 Day Cape York Safari you can ask the guide to see what you are interested in most, to a larger extent, than on bigger tours.
Day 1 - FLY FROM CAIRNS TO CAPE YORK
Your tour starts from Cairns Airport or if required a shuttle bus will take you to the airport from the Cairns CBD. Arriving at Horn Island Airport you are met by your Driver/Guide. We then take a guided tour of this interesting Island. After lunch we jump on board the transfer boat and head to Thursday Island. We enjoy a guided tour around this small island that is part of Torres Strait culture and history. Thursday Island is situated between Cape York and Australia’s nearest neighbour New Guinea we enjoy a 2 hour guided tour of the island.
It's time then to head over the Mainland to our overnight accommodation. We stay in air-conditioned cabins by the sea; this will be our home for the next 2 nights. (L,D)
Day 2 - THE TIP
Today we visit the remains of Somerset, which was established by the Jardine Family as the Government outpost and Cattle Station. Spend some time at some secluded beaches, where we have previously sighted dugongs and sea turtles. This is a particularly scenic part of the Cape.
We then head for Australia’s most northerly point, Cape York. The 30 minute walk to the point has lots of great views, also once we arrive it’s time to grab a drink and enjoy the start of the amazing sunset over the Torres Strait.

Day 3 - CAPE YORK TO WEIPA
Leaving the Cape behind us we travel south along the Old Telegraph Track across the Great Dividing Range though the Jardine National Park boarded by the Telegraph Track to the west and the Coral Sea to the East.
Arriving at the Crocodile infested Jardine River it’s time for some morning tea before boarding the Ferry to cross the Jardine. We arrive at Fruit Bat Falls where we enjoy the board walk and there is also time to cool off with a swim if you wish, it’s now time to join one of the original Telegraph Tracks including crossing the famous Wenlock River, and continue further along the old track stopping for lunch beside one of the many river crossings.
We then make an afternoon visit to the Morton Telegraph Station; this important link in communication to the far north and the cape operated till 1960. Rejoining our 4WD we travel south crossing many creeks and streams and the and head through one of the largest cattle station on the Cape - Batavia Downs before arriving at our accommodation in Weipa, it’s then time to get settled before dinner is served.

Day 4 - WEIPA TO JARDINE NATIONAL PARK
Weipa is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria is the largest town in the Cape York Peninsula with a population of about 3000 people. Its main industries are mining and cattle exports. This afternoon, you will be taken on a guided tour of one of the mines.
We take a stroll through the Jardine National Park to amaze your senses. We then visit the Western Cape Cultural Centre. Be impressed with the stunning and truly authentic aboriginal artwork and learn about the Aboriginal culture. Then take a stroll through the township.
After lunch we explore the port of Weipa and its amazing coastline before returning to our resort time to enjoy a relaxing late afternoon as well as the resort facilities.

Day 5 - WEIPA TO IRON RANGE NATIONAL PARK
This morning we travel across the open plains of the central Cape continuing our adventure to one of Australia's most remote area's we head east exploring the Sir William Thompson Range and then crossing the Pascoe River, we head to Iron Range National Park.
As we enter the National Park, we see the spectacular Mount Tozer at the peak of the table range, before descending down to Lockhart River a unique aboriginal community situated on the ocean at Lloyd Bay this will be our lunch spot today. We then travel onwards exploring the many wonders of the Iron Range National Park whilst enjoying the dense tropical rainforest being the largest remaining area of lowland rainforest in Australia.
We arrive at Portland Road at Cape Weymouth on the beautiful Coral Sea for our overnight stay.

Day 6 - IRON RANGE NATIONAL PARK TO MUSGRAVE
This morning we have a later start after breakfast time for a walk on the beach or maybe time to enjoy this piece of paradise…
A late Morning short drive takes us to Chilli Beach time to enjoy a walk along the beach and admire this amazing peace of Rainforest that joins the beach
Leaving the ocean, we head inland through the National Park and onwards to more savannah land, country of the Cape; heading south west we rejoin the main Track
Travelling along part of the southern leg of the old Telegraph Track we come to the Archer River, one of the Cape's well known obstacles and river crossing. We then continue further south to Musgrave Station and Roadhouse - our home for the night.

Day 7 - MUSGRAVE TO COOKTOWN
After an early start from Musgrave Station we head into Lakefield National Park including visits to Red and White Lilly Lagoons - these are truly spectacular parts of the National Park. We will also travel through the many river valleys and numerous giant termite mounds and arrive at Old Laura Homestead.
From the homestead we take a short drive to “welcome waterhole” wetlands from here we travel the Battle Camp Track to Cooktown. After arriving in Cooktown where we enjoy lunch before we spend the afternoon visiting the historic cemetery, the Captain Cook Museum - this is truly a unique and amazing place.

Day 8 - COOKTOWN TO CAIRNS VIA THE DAINTREE
Today we 4WD along the Bloomfield Track enjoying many scenic spots including Mysterious Black Mountain. Bloomfield Falls and Cedar Bay National park.
Heading onward to Cape Tribulation, we give you an opportunity to explore coastal headlands and long sandy beaches before stopping to enjoy lunch before we journey through the World Heritage Rainforest to Mardja Boardwalk and enjoy an interpretive walk through the rainforest.
A visit to this area would not be complete without a stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Company (own expense) we then cross the Daintree River by cable ferry before joining our afternoon cruise on the famous Daintree River where many crocodiles and amazing birdlife are often found. We complete our 8 days cape to cairns experience with a scenic drive along the beautiful Coral Cost to Cairns City completing a truly memorable 8 days touring the north.
