Victoria’s Phillip Island is a very special place. Located just a short drive south of the city of Melbourne, Phillip Island is a protected reserve where Australia’s unique species of wildlife can be seen up close and personal, creating magical moments that will linger long in your memory.

The Phillip Island Penguin Parade Tour is the perfect way to experience the very best of the island, balancing natural attractions with gourmet food and wine tastings to create an unforgettable day out.

Catering to small groups, this exclusive tour departs Melbourne around midday and takes you directly to Phillip Island through the stunning scenery of the Gippsland region.

The first destination on our Phillip Island tour is the award-winning Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park for a unique Australian wildlife experience. Here, we’ii enjoy a guided wildlife walk where we have the opportunity to meet and hand-feed many species of native Australian animals. Learn about iconic species such as kangaroos, koalas, emus & wallabies, as well as some of our lesser known favourites including quolls, owls, bandicoots & Tasmanian devils.

Our next stop on the Phillip Island day tour journey is to the delightful Phillip Island Winery. You’ll enjoy a structured sampling of not only the locally produced wines, but also a selection of Gippsland’s finest cheeses and other gourmet produce. The tasting is accompanied by an informative presentation about each of the foodstuffs sampled, ensuring an experience that is educational as well as truly mouth-watering.

The next stop will be a visit to Point Grant and The Nobbies where you’ll find sweeping views of Westernport Bay, Bass Strait and Seal Rocks, where Australia’s largest population of fur seals can be seen.

Then it’s time for the tour’s main attraction – the Penguin Parade. Phillip Island is home to the world’s smallest species of penguin and at twilight these delightful creates come ashore after spending the day hunting for food. You’ll watch the show as part of the exclusive Penguins Plus viewing experience, where numbers are limited to just 150 people, sitting in a more natural setting with a local ranger giving expert commentary.

Following this magical experience, you’ll take a look at the Visitor Centre and board the bus back to Melbourne, where you’ll have free Wi-Fi to upload all of your photos to share with loved ones. Stunning nature combined with delicious food and wine – what could be better?

A visit to Point Grant and The Nobbies gives us an opportunity to enjoy views over Westernport Bay and Bass Strait, including Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest population of fur seals.

And then it’s onwards to the main event, where just after dark every night the world’s smallest penguins waddle ashore after spending the day fishing out at sea. You’ll be truly enchanted as the stars of the show emerge from the surf and pass right before your eyes on their journey back to their homes. Your guide will ensure you are able to get the very best vantage point to enjoy the Penguin Parade and will help to keep you toasty warm with a complimentary hot cuppa.

Included in the tour is the exclusive Penguins Plus viewing experience. With numbers limited to 150, you’ll enjoy special ranger interpretation in a more natural setting. This option also includes a complimentary hot beverage. The Penguins Plus viewing platform is an exclusive viewing area at the Penguin Parade. The main viewing area at the Penguin Parade is a concrete terraced area that holds around 3000 people. The Penguins Plus viewing area has a maximum capacity of 150 people and is also located in an area that always experiences high penguin traffic. In fact, about 50-60% of the penguins arrive close to the Penguins Plus boardwalk, so you get to see more penguins with less people competing with you for space to see them.

After the parade we allow plenty of time to explore the Visitor Centre before beginning our own journey back to Melbourne. The journey back is a great chance to upload photo’s, send E-Postcards, and research your next destination as Go West Tours is the proud operator to offer the first in free Wi Fi on board all our Melbourne day tours.

With drop off right back to your inner city and St Kilda area accommodation, you’ll remember this day as a true highlight of your Australian holiday.
