Join us on one of our favourite days as we journey north west of Hobart and into the wilderness, feed some giant fish and experience Tasmania’s oldest national park.
We ascend 1272 metres by road to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Once at the summit we enjoy this alpine environment and its spectacular views of Southern Tasmania. Departing the mountain and passing through Bushy Park hop fields we make our way to the Salmon Ponds, large ponds brimming with different species of freshwater fish. The gardens at the Salmon Ponds are a great place to enjoy your lunch or maybe stroll along the riverbank to look for a platypus. Next we visit the wilderness wonderland of Mt Field National Park with stunning walks through enormous fern forests, some of the world’s tallest trees and the beautiful Russell Falls.
