Australians are world famous for their love of an ice-cold beer – but times are changing and in recent years the types and styles of beers being enjoyed have changed dramatically.
What’s stayed the same is our passion for good quality beer served with delicious food, all enjoyed with mates and good fun.
That’s why the Melbourne Urban Beer Odyssey is no ordinary beer tour. There’s no stopwatches or hard and fast itineraries, just a relaxed touring style that takes in the best of Melbourne’s beer scene, old and new.
Depending on the time of day and what’s on offer, we may mix up our itinerary – but here’s a loose guide to some of the stops we make:
Carlton & United Breweries: This mega brewery pumps out some of Australia’s most iconic beers including Fosters, Victoria Bitter and Crown Lager. We’ll see what it takes to make beer en masse and taste some of the produce in their brewhouse.
The Crafty (James) Squire: James Squire lays on a very generous tasting paddle of some of their best brews and a complimentary drink of your choice to go with a delicious lunch. Vegetarian choices and options for allergies are available.
Temple Brewery: Temple produces a range of core beers as well as one-off, single batch numbers that will tantalise your taste buds. We’ll try a tasting paddle here that’s double the size of the usual paddle.
Moon Dog Brewery: Moon Dog is known for pushing the boundaries of beer with creations like Bloody Mary beers, Champagne beers and even ice-cream flavoured beers! This is where our tour will start to get a bit wild…
Mountain Goat Brewery: This is a truly hidden gem, famous for its innovative craft beers, yet still very well hidden away from the beaten path. We’ll drop in for a thorough tasting.
Two Birds Brewery: Started by Danielle and Jayne, this cool craft brewery has created a huge range of session beers and single batch brews that we’ll enjoy.
Foresters Hall: Time to get down to some quality live music in this iconic beer hall in Melbourne's inner north. One of the biggest tap lists in Australia is found here and you’ll be hard-pressed to find something you don’t like!
