Just 90 minutes from downtown Melbourne, between gentle Westernport Bay and rugged Bass Strait, lies fascinating Phillip Island. This diverse island is a laid-back place of farms, holiday towns, coastal landscapes, tranquil wetlands and eucalyptus woodlands. It is also home to a unique collection of wild native Australian animals and birds, including the famous Little Penguins.
Our day tour only includes genuinely wild native animals and birds and some stunning island scenery. We do not visit the usual small zoos and tourist attractions like the chocolate factory or wineries. If you want to cuddle koalas and feed kangaroos this is NOT the tour for you! Instead we'll take you to discover the natural beauty of the island and its delightful inhabitants. We know you will love seeing the real wild Phillip Island with us. All tours are guided with full commentary by experienced driver/guides who are passionate about the wildlife they encounter and their protection. And we guarantee a maximum of only 11 people per tour group.
Highlights include (subject to change and seasonal variations to give you the best possible experience):
Looking for wild kangaroos before we get to the island. (kangaroo sightings are very weather dependent)
Pelicans and stingrays at Newhaven pier.
Bird spotting at Churchill Island or Swan Lake.
Koala viewing from treetop boardwalks at the The Koala Conservation Centre. (*The koalas are wild and protected in a very large natural predator-proof reserve)
Spectacular coastal views at The Nobbies.
Seeing wild swamp wallabies at Summerland Peninsula.
We finish the day at sunset with the Little Penguins at the Penguin Parade.
There is also the option, depending on the weather, of a one hour seal colony boat cruise for an extra $85 for adults and $65 for children.
And we can also include a spectacular short helicopter flight over part of the island too! $80 per person, minimum two.
All touring costs included including the Koala Conservation Centre and General Viewing entry at the Penguin Parade. Lunch and dinner are available to purchase on tour.
