Tour one of the oldest wine regions in Australia, sample wine at boutique wineries, taste local cheese and chocolate, visit a local distillery or brewery, enjoy your morning tea and coffee at Walkabout Wildlife Park and get hands-on with a koala and python.
Wildlife Wine Cheese and Chocolate. Explore the best of the Hunter Valley. After departing Sydney, the first stop is at Walkabout Wildlife Park. An opportunity to take a FREE PHOTO with KOALA. This wildlife sanctuary is home to free roaming kangaroos, emus, (some animals are in enclosures, like dingoes, wombats, tassie devil). Enjoy your morning tea and coffee, taste Aboriginal bush tucker. Meet the ranger - hear about Aussie wildlife – an opportunity to pat koala and python.
From here continue to the Hunter Valley. You will arrive there just after 11.15am. You will travel through vineyards, visit boutique wineries, enjoy stunning scenery and taste the wine. The Hunter Valley is known for its long-aged Semillon (highly prized by wine writers from all over the world) and elegant Shiraz. But in fact, you can find more than 20 different wine styles there offered in over 150 cellar doors. The Hunter Valley is really a food and wine region, and what complements wine more than cheese and chocolate!
After your first visit to a local boutique winery, you will have free time for lunch and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of the Hunter. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or your guide can suggest a suitable cafe.
Following lunch, continue with visiting boutique award winning wineries and tasting the wine complemented by winery tour. Wineries visited include Tintilla fine wines and olives, family owned winery producing award winning Shiraz and Semillon, homemade olives and chutneys. De iuliis winery awarded Hunter Valley Winemaker of 2015, taste their flagship Semillon and Shiraz, but also Verdelho, Chardonay, Tempranilo, Touriga wines. Or taste organic wines made by Tamburlaine or similar.
We also stop at choclate shop and we stop to taste local cheese made by Binorrie cheese co from cows and goats milk. You can choose to swap a visit to winery for a visit to local distillery (working distillery so you can see the process and an equipment as well) or brewery, that have been an integral part of the Hunter Valley.
