Tour for a day through the stunning Barossa Valley, where you will be treated to wine tasting at four select wineries. Enjoy some of Australia’s finest drops, as well as a delicious barbeque lunch!
After a 7:30 am pickup from the Adelaide CBD, you’ll set off through the suburbs and the Adelaide Hills towards your first stop at Gumeracha. Here, you’ll visit the World’s Largest Rocking Horse, which is located at Australia’s only remaining wooden toy factory, where you can have a browse at the wooden creations, enjoy a coffee at the nearby café or hand-feed the tame goats, alpacas and kangaroos that live there.
Your next stop will be Williamstown, where you’ll see the amazing Whispering Wall* – a nine-story tall man-made dam, whose semi-circular surface reflects sound in a way that means somebody whispering from one end can be heard from the other end – 140 metres away!
Afterwards, you’ll enter the famous Barossa Valley region, stopping first at Jacob’s Creek – the region’s largest exporter. Here, you’ll be conducted through the winery by a friendly and informative guide, who will treat you to a taste of some of the award-winning varietals – such as Shiraz, merlot and rosé – and regale you with the history of this internationally renowned brand.
At Kies – your next stop – you’ll learn a little about this quaint, family-owned boutique winery, whose exclusive wines are not available anywhere else. Enjoy a delicious drop of a delightful Kies wine and talk to the friendly and attentive staff as lunch is served. As you enjoy your delicious fresh barbeque meal of marinated kangaroo fillets, chicken skewers, steaks or sausages and salads, you’ll be able to soak up the gorgeous views from the Kies garden rotunda.
The next winery you’ll visit will be Barossa Chateau – a phenomenally beautiful winery that sits amongst one of the most important and internationally significant rose gardens. While you’re enjoying some of their exquisite wine varietals, you’ll be able to take in the sweeping views of the 22-acre field of roses. At Mengler’s Hill lookout, you’ll experience even more stunning views, with a stunning vista reaching across the valley’s patchwork of colour.
Finally, you’ll stop in at the historic Seppeltsfield Winery – one of the oldest wineries in Australia – where a selection of their finest table wines and liqueurs awaits your appraisal. You’ll be returned to Adelaide City at around 5 pm.
