Tour Description

Take a full day rainforest journey beginning with a historic rail adventure from Cairns to Kuranda on the Kuranda Scenic Railway. A 1.5hr transfer spoiling you with breathtaking views of Cairns, the Great barrier Reef, and rainforest surrounds.

Arrive in Kuranda, and have 2.5hrs of free time to explore this unique and wonderful rainforest village, where you can visit heritage markets, and an abundance of native animal sancturies, as well as experience local aboriginals manufacturing aboriginal art, including boomerangs, and digeridoos.

You will be transferred by 4WD from Kuranda to our Horse Riding Ranch at 1:00pm

Take a guided horse riding adventure tour through our unspoilt natural tropical rainforest wonderland, which borders open eucalypt woodlands and natural freshwater creeks and streams. Billabong Horseback Adventures is also habitat to many native animals such as the Cassowary, Bush Turkey, Wallaby, Paddemelon, Lace Monitor & the famous Ulysses Blue butterfly.

Along your journey through one of the oldest known rainforests in th world you will also come across giant strangler fig trees, be taken to amazing lookouts 500m above sea level, and view spectacular scenery of the surrounding state forest & kuranda valley.

Billabong Horseback Adventures caters for all experience levels and focuses particularly on operating small groups to make your tour more personallised, and not make you feel lost among a crowd. Infact, in any one group there will only ever be a maximium of 6 riders, accompanied by 2 experienced riding guides whom will instruct you on how to ride a horse, and answer an questions you may have during the tour. They will make sure that at all times you feel comfortable and do anything possible to ensure your adventure with us is unforgettable experience that you will want to return to again and again.

Following your tour, you will return to our billabong, and outback setting where freshly made afternoon tea, and refreshments will be served, then trasferred back to Kuranda, where you will board a scenic Cable Car journey to Cairns via the Skyrail rainforest cableway.

10:15am: Train arrives in Kuranda - 2.5hrs free time to explore Kuranda
12:55pm: 4WD Pickup from Kuranda Visitor Information Centre
1:00pm: Arrive at Billabong Horseback Adventures (welcome & formalities)
1:15pm: Get aquainted with your horse, mounted, and safety demonstration
1:30pm: Tour begins
3:15pm: Arrival back at base - Afternoon Tea & refreshments served
3:45pm: Return transfer to Skyrail Kuranda Depot
5:15pm: Skyrail returns to Cairns - Coach pickup awaits
5:45pm: Arrival back at accommodation
