Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises
Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises runs catamaran day trips from Cairns to Green Island, a national-park coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef, with a choice of reef activities included.
Cairns
Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises departs from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns for Green Island, a coral cay about 27 kilometres — roughly 45 minutes by catamaran — offshore. The company, part of Reef Unlimited and Experience Co, says on its own site that it has run cruises to the island since 1990 and operates two catamarans across four departures a day. Full-day and half-day options are both available.
Green Island itself carries national park status — the operator's own site describes boardwalks running through the park and a set of sheltered beaches — and is a coral cay rather than a resort-built island.
A full-day booking gives passengers up to five and a half hours ashore, with either a glass-bottom boat trip or a set of snorkel gear included at no extra charge; a semi-submersible ride and scuba diving cost extra.
