Tour Description

A totally personalised tour for that romantic getaway in the privacy of your own luxury Limousine, suits up to 4-5 guests Day 1: The tour starts from your hotel at 8.30am for a leisurely day as we meander our way to the Limestone Coast. We will be travelling via the coast along the Princes Highway (A1 & B1) to the Coorong, a place of tranquility, solitude and wonderment! A place that calms the mind soothes the soul and appeases the senses. Our first scheduled stop will be at Kingston SE for a casual lunch at the Big Lobster (heritage centre of seafood, wine and coastal delight). After lunch we will have a short jaunt to Mount Benson via Robe, with the beginning of our wine tasting at Wangolina Station, Cape Jaffa Wines and Ralph Fowler Wines (if time is permitted a barrel tasting at Ralph Fowler wines can be arranged). To finish the day, we journey to Penola where we will book into our accommodation and so be refreshed before dinner.

Day 2 The biggest decision you'll make when you embark on your tour of discovery is which cellar door to visit first. There are over 22 cellar doors from which to choose, from Hollick, Majella, Redman, Brands of Coonawarra & Katnook Estate to mention but a few. After lunch we will venture to Wynn’s of Coonawarra & Rymill Estate to finish off our tastings within the Region. As we wander back to Adelaide via the Riddoch (A66) and Duke Highways (A8), you may want to have a tasting in the Padthaway region at Padthaway Estate or perhaps just relax as you stroll through the picture perfect grounds that the Estate has to offer, before returning back to Adelaide.

(Expected return to your hotel at approximately 7.00pm).

Coonawarra lies within South Australia's Limestone Coast Zone ~ the region nudges the Victorian border and is located 381km south east from Adelaide. The town's name, although no one is exactly sure, seems to be derived from an Aboriginal word meaning 'wild honeysuckle'. The cigar-shaped strip of 'red dirt' is finite. Only 12km long and 2km wide, the region lies on a ridge 59 metres above sea level and appears completely flat. It has red soil (terra rossa) situated on a slight but all important limestone ridge. Its secret lies in the magical marriage of rich red terra rossa soil, limestone, pure underground water and a long cool ripening season for the grapes. The first vineyard was planted in the 1880s at Yallum. The early settlers, such as the Redman family, who by dint of hard toil brought to reality the vision of its Scottish founder, John Riddoch. Whatever yardstick one adopts, Coonawarra produces much of Australia's great Cabernet Sauvignon and other wines include Chardonnay, Riesling and Shiraz. Neighbouring wine regions include Mount Benson, (Cape Jaffa), Wrattonbully & Padthaway. The region also boasts South Australia’s only World Heritage area at the Naracoorte World Heritage Fossil Site and some amazing geological wonders such as the Naracoorte Caves and the volcanic Blue Lakes.

Accommodation for 1 Night at Yalumba, The Menzies (if available) is included in the price

Whatever the experience ... be prepared for the time of your life!
