This is done by measuring our Carbon Footprint; reducing, eliminating and offsetting CO2; propagating and planting trees; revegetating degraded land; maintaining the rainforest canopy; elevating boardwalks to protect the fragile root system of the forest floor; ensuring non-toxic waste management; recycling, conserving and protecting the environment.

Able to be purchased/hired:
Audio guides are available in 6 languages (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish) - $5.00 per hire., All audio units include bird calls and the English version also includes local Aboriginal cultural information.
What to bring:
It is recommended that visitors bring a camera, binoculars, hat, sunscreen and comforable walking shoes (No high heels).

Self drive the scenic Coral Coast - the Discovery Centre is located 10kms north of Daintree River Ferry, 60 mins north from Port Douglas, 2 hours north from Cairns, 30 mins south from Cape Tribulation The Discovery Centre is accessible all year round. SEALED ROAD ALL THE WAY - you don't need a 4WD!

7 DAY RETURN VISIT AT NO CHARGE - simply get your Interpretive Guide Book stamped when leaving.

The Discovery Centre is a multi-award winning rainforest interpretive centre is nestled in the heart of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest - the oldest intact tropical rainforest in the world. The Daintree is throught to be between 150 million & 200 million years old. By comparison the Amazon is relatively young at about 7 million years. And the Kuranda Range near Cairns is approximately 70,000 years old.

The Daintree Rainforest is very special - it is one of the most unique ecological regions in the world.

The Daintree Discovery Centre is an Accredited Wet Tropics 'World Heritage' Visitor Information Centre, has advanced Ecotourism Accreditation, has won numerous tourism and business awards, and is currently celebrating 20 years of operation.
