Due to the sensitivity of the area strict NP control means few get to savour this stunning piece of nature. Wait-a-While hold exclusive access area permits to Mt Lewis which means "no other tour companies".
The tour heads along the spectacular coastal highway to Port Douglas then heads inland to the Tablelands and into the Mt Lewis National Park. This is 4WD tour on a dirt track into pristine stunning rainforest that has immense scientific value. We have afternoon tea/coffee at an internationally renown birding spot known as the Clearing. Our knowledgeable guides discuss local history, the World Heritage Rainforest and its native inhabitants. We venture to the top of Mt Lewis and a restaurant prepared picnic dinner is enjoyed by candlelight deep in this remote rainforest before we go spotlighting to see what wildlife inhabits this tropical rainforest. 80% of Australian wildlife is nocturnal so to see it awake and free we need to go out into the rainforest at night. The species count is low but the quality/rarity value is very high.
This tour is about experiencing the remoteness and beauty of the World Heritage rainforest in an area where there are no other tour companies.
