Tour Description
BIG LOUD FUN at the oldest working railway workshops in Australia.
The Workshops Rail Museum, just 40 mins from Brisbane, is a $20 million wholly interactive authentic heritage and cultural experience.
This package includes lunch from the Trackside Café and you receive a special memento of your visit before you leave.
Museum
Explore over 15 larger-than-life, hands-on exhibitions that encourage you to touch, explore, play and engage!
Drive a diesel train up the Queensland coast on a simulator, climb aboard heritage steam trains and carriages, play in the kid’s Nippers Railway, discover how fast trains can go and see the largest model railway of Queensland.
Active heritage workshop tours
These workshops have been operating non-stop for over 145 years!
Join a 30 minute tour into the real heritage workshops to see railway workers restoring and maintaining Queensland steam train fleet.
See sparks fly and feel the heat of the furnaces in the Blacksmiths Shop, or get up close with real steam engines in the Steam Shop. Listen to the railway workers as they show you around their workplace (and tell a few tall stories!).
We’re part of the Queensland Museum, and Winner of Australian and Queensland Tourism Awards for Heritage & Cultural Tourism.
