Tour Description
Come and experience an authentic Aboriginal culture with the Tjapukai people in Cairns. Wander through the Magic Space to view authentic stone age artifacts once used by the Tjapukai tribe. Murals created by Tjapukai artists tell the legends of the past.
The Creation and History theatre tell the stories of dreamtime, traditional beliefs, Tjapukai language and the 'survival story ' of indigenous people in Australia.
Move through to the Tjapukai Dance Theatre to experience a dance performance of Tjapukai traditional corroborees.
The Cultural Village will provide an opportunity to interact with members of the Tjapukai community. Try your hand at boomerang and spear throwing. Listen, learn and ask questions on how to play the didgeridoo. For those that are keen to broaden their knowledge on bush foods and medicines, Tjapukai provides short demonstrations for you.
We now have the "Bibunbay" Kids program every day and included in the admission price for Tjapukai by Day. There are morning and afternoon activities to suit any itinerary, including "Kids do Didge" classes, boomerang painting, message stone painting, canoe rides and a small prize for the spear thrown the furthest!
