This fantastic tour begins with a leisurely drive through the beautiful Hunter Valley – Australia’s most long-standing wine producing region. You’ll visit a number of award winning, internationally popular wineries and cellar doors, tasting their renowned varietals along the way. You’ll also visit a number of family owned boutique vineyards, where you’ll experience the country hospitality and hear those personalised stories that make this region so fascinating.
Included in your tour is a visit to a popular brewery, allowing you to taste some terrific craft beers and ales and mixing the day up a bit. Overall, you’ll sample up to 20 white, red, sparkling and fortified wine varieties – each one explained by your knowledgeable host, helping you hone your inner connoisseur in no time at all! You’ll also be led through a twenty-minute winemaking tour, letting you glimpse the ‘behind the scenes’ action that is responsible for making such wonderful wines. This particular tour has won the International Wine and Spirit Competition’s ‘International Winemaker of the Year’ award three times! Just be sure to wear enclosed footwear for this part of the tour as otherwise, entry will be denied.
Midway through your busy day, you’ll be treated to a delicious BBQ sausage sizzle or café lunch (vegetarians are catered for), depending on the weather. What better way to soak up the glorious views and atmosphere of the Hunter Valley? Following your last wine tasting, you’ll be let loose on the town of Pokolbin, giving you the chance to look around or browse the many boutique stores, the Hunter Valley Gardens Village, the cheese shop or factory, the town’s historic buildings, more wineries or extra breweries. At the end of your tour, you’ll board your coach again and be returned to your accommodation, arriving at about 6 pm.
