Tour Description

This is the best tour for experiencing a great range of native Australian tropical wildlife in their natural environment - "An unforgettable experience".
The tour heads inland and up to the Atherton Tablelands via the Gillies Highway south of Cairns. We visit a number of locations including the scenic Crater Lakes and a magnificent 500 year old Strangler Fig Tree which are great wildlife areas. We have Devonshire Tea at the beautiful Lake Barrine Tea House. Just before dinner we visit our private viewing area for Platypus spotting. (We see platypus 98% of the time) Dinner is at a country restaurant and then we venture into the permit controlled National Parks to spot a wonderful array of native wildlife that can be only seen at night time.
The wildlife that we may see throughout this tour includes: Rare Possums (some that do not survive in captivity), Flying Foxes (Bats), Bandicoots, Boyd’s Forest Dragons, snakes, Musky Rat Kangaroos, Betongs, Pademelons, Frogs, Lumholt'z Tree Kangaroos, and Sooty Owls… and in the wet season we see luminous fungi and glow worms as well.

We are environmentally accredited and do not feed or encourage the wildlife in any way –merely observe it.
Our experienced and knowledgeable naturalist guides help guests learn to spot wild Australian iconic wildlife in the tropical rainforest and delight all with their enthusiasm for the critters and environment.
We have tea/coffee before returning to Cairns at approximately midnight.
