It’s Your Day, enjoy
Kangaroo Island or KI as the locals call it, is a pristine wilderness, a destination for all seasons, 'one of earth's last un-spoilt refuges', the Island has 540km of coastline, 155km in length and 55km width, at Seal Bay you can see Sea Lions frolicking in the surf or basking in the sun on white beaches, watch these creatures nurture there young, jostle and play, view Koalas in lofty eucalypts, try a Koala Walk (Koalas guaranteed) at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, view pelicans soaring over shimmering Lagoons or watch Little Penguins returning to there nest after a day of hunting for food on specially erected eco-platforms at Penneshaw. Over 50 ships have been wrecked of the coastline since the first recorded shipwreck in 1847 with many loss of life, the first lighthouse to be built was in 1852 at Cape Willoughby. Kangaroo Island is Australia's newest wine producing regions with over 30 vineyards and 18 new labels; the wine is renowned for its strong varietals’ fruit flavors and intense colours. Andermel Restaurant is also a Marron farm, where you can look at the Marron ponds (fresh water lobster, an Island icon,) where these delicious crustaceans are farmed. You will see how they are grown and harvested and see Marron in storage tanks, Andermel is also a winery and so a wine tasting is also included. Perhaps you would like to try some of the cuisine Kangaroo Island produces; native jams, smoked fish, sauces and marinades, honey from the pure strain of Ligurian bees, sheep cheese direct from the Island Pure Sheep Dairy, or feast on fresh King George Whiting straight out of the Ocean.
